minordjango -> Pedro Maldonado 80's models (Mar. 19 2005 22:31:11)

Hi ,

I Like the sound produced by the Maldonado guitars Flamencos,
I have noted that the 80's models dont have model numbers has anyone any idea of there worth and what they may sound like ?

ps Also does anybody have an opinion of the cheaper models that are made this days (The F series ).

best wishes T

I have recently reveived a F2 from Sr Maldonado. It sounds fantastic.
Although described as model F2, this is not written on the label, only classe 1a and serial number. I have a leaflet somewhere describing his model range, the models differ in decoration and the woods used.

I once had a 2F, they were always made buy Maldanado Junior, in Torremallenos, with senior making the class A's. A friend who bought a senior one from the LGS, had to take it back, because the top caved in due to being exeptionally thin. The 2f I had was OK, but had a cheap tinny tone. I have never heard of Maldanado Guitars for years (late 80s) I never see them in shops or advertised. The re -sale value, I would have thought, not a lot.
Cheers
Dave

Sorry. Senior did also make 2Fs I think. But I thought he only made top models

I've had 3 Maldonados, each one being 1A blanca.

One got damaged in transit and unfortunately, had to be returned.
Pedro (jnr) replaced it with a fine guitar which I had for a few years and enjoyed very much. There was no argument from Pedro who took the damaged instrument back. The shipper, Swisscargo were dreadful and didn't want to know.

The third guitar was purpose made and I waited a year. However, I asked for a light weight instrument and when it came the 6th string sound was a bit boomy (to my ear). I think the top was a bit to thin possibly to reduce body weight, so it went back, again no argument and the replacement is expected any day now.

I'll let you know.

BTW, Pedro Maldonado Ruiz (Hijo/Torremolinos) is a great guy.
Tres amigos make fine guitars.

Hi I Actually have a Pedro Maldonado guitar for sale!

The guitar was build in 1985 and has a fantastic bright red colour and does really sound amazing. I had a pick-up build in a few years back to play live and I just had it serviced as well. You are right there are no serial number just the year.
If anyone interested then my number is +44(0)7932413165.
