Last year I rebuilt this electric saz that is played by Trey Spruance the leader of the band Secret Chiefs. Of all the instruments that are non traditional to flamenco this might be something some esoteric person could work in some situations.

I blogged about it you can read it here. But I had such a fun time working on this thing that if you want to know more about it, just ask. Also see Secret Chiefs on youtube to hear the band. They are great...I mean for non flamenco music:) If you like flamenco you'll probably dig the Secret Chiefs.

The Secret Chiefs with the saz. I mean ok it's esoteric rock.....but check it out, man does not live by flamenco alone.

In 2010 I rebuilt the electric saz that the guitarist from the band Faith No More plays in his own band, The Secret Chiefs- they seem to be more known in Europe than Asia or the Americas.

I was asked to make an electric saz for a Portuguese bands saz player after he saw my electric saz for Trey Spruance from FNM. The band is from Sintra and the saz / guitar player who commissioned this is going to make some recordings with it.

Here's very short clip of making sure the thing makes sounds. It's interesting, I would like to study acoustic saz, I may buy one from Turkey later this year. But in terms of flamenco, I think Saz would be a much better addition than many of the other types of instruments that get molded into flamenco roles.

Saz also is an instrument meant to accompany poetry, I heard a Turkish poet in 2010 play saz and recite poems. I did not understand Turkish, but the envelope of voice and sound was beautiful.

Love Faith No More, underrated band in my opinion.
