Hello All

Lots of talk here about guitars, but not much on guitar cases. I have the original case for my Conde but it's pretty crappy compared to what I see today and I think I should get a better one.

Would an off the shelf one work (like in the Hiscox artist guitar line)?

How does one ensure a good fit or is it necessary to get a custom made one?

Anyone know where to get a custom made one (if that's necessary)?

if your budget is low, this is a great case. in comes with two humidifier pods and a hygrometer.

the only downside is that it's heavy.

the flamenco version used to be cheaper. i dont know what happened.

Yes, Hiscox cases are strong, light, and reasonably priced. Since you're in Toronto you can take your guitar to the 12th Fret and try one out, it'll probably fit very well. (Call first to make sure they have some in stock). No need for a custom job.

Im also searching a case now. Do you know good hard cases that can be carried like backpack? Im thinking of bicycling the summer so I would need one like that.

I'm searching for the same thing Alexi and i ended up with a dealer who sells the BAM hardshell with the half price! i liked another model like this one here: http://www.guitarsalon.com/product.php?productid=3406. the price is not so high. Good luck with your search.[:)]

Hiscox has worked well for me for years. In storage, cars and planes.

thanks for the link tomrocker. So the humicase has can be carried like a backpack? I cannot tell from the pictures. Otherwise it looks like a good case and the price is affordable.

I, too, recommend a Humicase Metro model. They come with straps and are lightweight. I have three flamenco guitars, and all fit nice and snug in these cases, with no slack space to move around within. I would also suggest you consider a soft case that is fully padded with straps to carry on your back, if you are carrying it while cycling. I have a Ritter model that is very light with good padding all around. It might prove more comfortable to haul longer distances on your back while cycling, and the guitar would be well-protected. I have used mine to carry a guitar with me on board aircraft cabins and have stowed it in overhead bins and in closets.

Yes. I have a friend who has an identical one that goes with a belt for that. Thanks in return for the site. I love this White color and it's more cheeper as well. The BAM case is the best my opinion but it's really very expensive. i'm waiting for a reply from that local dealer if the price he mentioned is correct '' 250 Euros' for this model: http://www.staffordguitar.com/shop/guitarcasesbam.asp. It cost a fortune online, but the dealer price is low. If i'll get it , i'll post some pictures and info, otherwise i'll go for this whilte model from the flsmenco worl thanks to you[;)]

big +1 to this

Unless you're flying a lot, I don't think you need to go for the Artist model. I've owned several of the mid-level ProII models over the years and they are fantastic. Actually, I'd totally be comfortable flying with one. 12th Fret usually keeps a good stock, but calling ahead is smart.

By the way, they should have some of the padded inserts to snug up the fit if required. These come from Hiscox are are made with the same padding and liner as used in the cases. You may or may not need them - my Pedro de Miguel negra fits perfectly in the large model.

Id throw another recommendation for the humicase metro. Good snug fit on my Conde and keeps it humidified and safe. Double straps, so it can go on your back although I don't know how easy it would be to ride with it strapped on.

had one of these made for my peghead ramirez..custom fit..means sending them the specs of the guitar...
good company to deal with
carbon fibre...seemed a logical choice after my hiscox came back with cracks, holes and splits etc after it's journey to brazil and back from australia...
not cheap though...
never trust an airline...it's the weight they put on top of the cases that is the main danger...a travelling case should have no 'give' ie stand on it...jump on it..drive over it... !!!
