I know that this documentary has been recommended here, but the soundtrack is one of my favourite cante cds because it is recorded in front of a small and enthusiastic audience made up of Manuel's friends and family.

Moraito is a perfect match to Manuel's singing, and I find Manuel is much less sloppy if I can use that term, than on some recordings I have heard. The liner notes are interesting, and the lyrics are transcribed in Spanish and French.

I prefer this cd to the others Manuel has recorded because of the live feel and the superior accompanying of Moraito. If anyone knows of recordings that reproduce the feel of a small Peña (as opposed to Camaron's Arena concerts) let me know!

One is a CD of Canela de San Roque released by El Flamenco Vive several years ago. It really was recorded at a small nightclub in Madrid. Another is the 1967 album "Canta Jerez" (Borrico, Sordera, Terremoto, Romerito, Sernita, Diamante Negro, Paco Cepero and Paco de Antequera). It was recorded in a studio but they say that it was set up just like a party.

Sloppy? Are you sure that's the right word? The guitar is pretty sloppy on a CD titled "El color de la hierba," but not the singing.
