ORIGINAL: ruso Hi I am new to this site and to guitar building, and I was wondering what types of wood I could use for the fingerboard (neck & all), I am on a budget and ebony is out of the question. Any suggestions? Thanks It must be a pretty tight budget if you can't afford an ebony fingerboard. I just bought 20 of them for $10 each. You can use any cured hardwood for a fingerboard although open grain woods like oak are probably not a good choice.
