Hi I am new to this site and to guitar building, and I was wondering what types of wood I could use for the fingerboard (neck & all), I am on a budget and ebony is out of the question. Any suggestions? Thanks

It must be a pretty tight budget if you can't afford an ebony fingerboard. I just bought 20 of them for $10 each. You can use any cured hardwood for a fingerboard although open grain woods like oak are probably not a good choice.

Neck and all???? I'm sorry that question is a little confusing.
What type of guitar are you planning on building? The fingerboard and neck wood are always separate pieces of wood on classical, flamenco and acoustic steel string guitars.
Where are you located? This will give us a better idea of what woods would be available to you.

hehe you should check out Bert Kwakkel. His necks and fingerboards are solid Brazillian Rosewood! never say always ;)
