If the soundboard is called the "top," shouldn't the back be called the "bottom?" And conversely, if the back is called the "back," shouldn't the top be called the "front?"

And then there are strings. For years high tension strings were called "high tension." Now suddenly they're called "hard" tension. So shouldn't low tension strings now be called "soft" tension?

Just looking for linguistic consistency.
