aleksi -> editing videos (Feb. 19 2011 19:52:10)

Good evening folks,
I've been thinking for some time now that it would be fun to do Rombsix kind of videos where one guitar is playing rhytm and second the melody and they both would be in the same screen.
How is this possible with mac? I have I movie, but atleast I havent found how to do it. What program do I need? Whats the easiest to use?
Im not very tech so I apreciate clear and simple and fast programs. Im not planning to make anything complicated, just two screen in one.
Can anybody help me?

I use Sony Vegas, but I think it only works on PCs. You're going to need the Mac gurus here to help you out with this one. Or, buy yourself a Windows machine, and let me know. [8D]

Maybe you can use emulators?

it's a good idea. i'd like to know how to do this with imovie too.

Final cut pro will do it but it's not cheap. I hope they add this ability to imovie in the future.

Thats just a picture in picture thing isn't it? iMovie will do it (at least the newer one will), I made a car vid and did PiP like that, it was pretty easy IIRC. Just need to have both clips recorded and then it gives you an option to put in another video stream...like I had a mount with a gopro hd camcorder and someone else with a handheld.
I can go check in iMovie if you really need.

my version is old but the newer versions can do it

hey it works! thanks kris!
iLife 11 isn't too expensive if you want to upgrade. or if you know someone who just bought a mac, chances are it came the iLife cd and you can install it on your comp for free.

hey villain, was it your lambo? [:D][;)]

thanks guys,
I have imovie 08 so I need to upgrade it.

There's always Final Cut Express which is very good and much cheaper than the Pro version.

Yeah Leo it was video of my silly clown car :) I did the picture in picture for when I took it out in a snow storm for a couple doughnuts. It's on YouTube if you wanna see it...came out pretty cool I think.

I hadn't thought of using that feature for two performance tracks doubled up though. That's a good idea if it comes out clean.
