Has anybody used Lisa strings , they seem very cheap $36 US for box of 12 sets.

Hi Andrew,

I've been using them for that reason. They are not up to the D'addarios or LaBella, etc... Their sound is alright but they lack in volume and range. They are quite consistent. I don't believe I've ever come across a bad batch. I practice for an hour or less a night, and they last about two to three months a set.

You won't be disappointed if you are on a budget and have no need for performance level sound. Otherwise, I would recommend other choices.

Just my opinion. I do have to tell you that I play a $150 classical with a lowered bridge and tap plate added, so maybe my observations for sound are not the best.

Good luck,
SJ

To me what is most important is to play guitar and enjoy myself. Stay within your budget and have fun is the way to go. There is much to learn and the strings and guitar you use will teach you nothing about flamenco. Enjoy yourself! [:D]

I totally disagree. And not only because I build guitars, but also as a player.

I agree with the fun part, and everything Mentrida said about Lisa strings.

Nice playing
Anders

Hey Andrew-

I've been using Lisas for a few years now. If I were performing I would probably choose another string, but since I'm not these work for me. The only problem I have is that they wear fairly quick - but for $3 dollars a pack, who's complaining?

I've corresponded with the infamous Lisa via e-mail. She seems like a nice person. One thing that I found odd - I think she sells these as "flamenco guitar strings" but she does not play flamenco. She is a professional classical guitarist!

I have used the medium Lisa for 3-4 years now, they are consistent and durable, I use them on my pratice/excersise guitar, they sound almost as D'addario normal tension. Great price.
