I'm a little late to the game. Been using the same korg turner i bought in 1996. I'm looking for headstock clip on turner. Any recommendations? Looking for good functionality, reliable parts, accurate tuning, and under $40.

Deniz, i also use tuning forks, but need something for loud situations.

Hi,

I just recently bought one and it works like a charm. I also had a Korg tuner that I had to lay down and tune that way, however when accompanying with dance class I could not tune very well cause of all the noises around me, now that I have one of these it's no problem, I can tune even in a loud environment.

I used to use an Intellitouch tuner, and they're certainly covenient; but I found it wasn't really accurate enough.

Try this. Tune with an Intellitouch, and then play E major, followed by C major. Do they both sound right?

Now I use a Boss TU-12H (which is over a decade old) plus a clip-on lead.

Tuning a guitar by eye reminds me of parking a car by ear.
But nowadays even the latter is possible with electronics.

I do tune my guitar sometimes when its necessary, for instance when playing along to a recording. But you dont need a tuner for that? When playing with another musician you need to tune to the instrument anyway coz no tuner will be accurate enough. I mean of course the absolute tuning, the relative one should always be present.

Umm... If everyone tunes accurately to concert pitch, then the musicians don't need to tune to each other. In my experience this is by far the quickest way to do things.

Um, I wonder whether these guys use a tuner

my guess is, if a tuner would be practical they would use it, right? Coz im sure such musicians play a lot of concerts...
as i said, i have never encountered that im in tune with somebody else when only relying on the tuner. There were ALWAYS some modifications necessary. The cursor of the tuner jumps around too much. A human ear is better able to detect the correct pitch (when there is a reference).

There aren't any accurate tuners in that price. You'll have to adjust everything by ear when you're done with the tuner.

Spending a bit more will get you a strobe tuner. Way more accurate and has sweatened tunings for specific instruments including acoustic guitars used with capo's etc...
