anyone else hates these little clip-on tuners on guitars? [8D]
why are they used so often by professionals these days?
imo it look so ugly on a guitar and "not flamenco", and what's the advantage when tuning anyway?

I have one that is black, and clips on the guitar's headstock in such a way that it is folded BEHIND the headstock, so people cannot actually see it. It has a backlight that allows you to tune in darkness if you need to, and if there is ambient noise, it picks up the vibration from the guitar so you can tune without any problems of interference from the ambiance. Some guitarists prefer to stick one where PdL has his glob of lube on the guitar. [8D][:D]

They're just handy. Not very accurate though.

they're great for noisy situations. looks dorky but it really helps.

they aren't pretty, but they're extremely handy!! also really affordable. I have an Intelli brand one that cost about 30 and just bought 2 Snark brand ones that were 15 each.

I've always been a fan of Peterson strobe tuners and I've just noticed they do a clip on version now.

I use the iPhone App version for most of my tuning but it would be useless in a noisy environment.

I would be very interested to know if anyone has tried the Korg Wi-Tune WR01. It seems to consist of a sensor that clips on and a separate remote unit that gives you the pitch. It might give the benefits of electronic tuning without the ugliness.
