Todd i'm sorry i'm so stupid for not noticing what you noticed in 3:44 can't here that little mute thing. Is it like a fast LH apagado? No, that would be too obvious to hear. Anyway your meticulous personality about being obsessed with details is getting to me, pretty soon you'll become a great guitarist cause your addicted to those little nuances and details that make one's playing even better. Yeah I heard it.. it sounds cool. I have no idea what he's doing. It doesn't look like it's a left hand technique.

i think i figured it out. he mutes that second with his pinky (left hand) for those two strokes. play the video in mediaplayer and slow the video down and focus on left hand at that second

my first thought (before slowing the vid down), was that he is doing something weird with the palm of his right hand or one of the fingers of his right hand or something like that,,, but after slowdown, i am pretty sure he mutes the 3 treble strings with his pinky, while doing the a and m strokes and stops muting for the i stroke. sounds very cool though. never noticed this "speciality" lets see if Ricardo or someone else agrees

The problem here to me is that when I watch the video I see no muting, and when I listen I hear distinct notes all the way through. I think there is no muting at all, but possibly index up golpe index up golpe a pull off and middle finger down. Just an opinion of course.

I think he just releases the pressure on his LH fingers momentarily to get that mute sound. (In fact if you look at his left arm, you can sorta see him modulate the pressure...although I admit it's easy to trick yourself by going by sight...) cheers, Ron

I agree with what someone said about the sound mixing with a percussion beat. To my eye and ear it seems like he is doing a "2 finger rasgueo" for want of a better description. Ive noticed Tomatito starts compas often with m on beat 12. He also has this trick of flicking m then i at the begining of compas. If you do that and then play another downstroke with i while at the same time muting the strings with the pinky of the left hand you get that jumping effect. I think he is doing m, then i on the A chord and then i again on the muted strings. The rhythm of those 3 strokes is toma-to

I definitely hear what you are saying, it is for sure an audio glitch. But there is definitely also a muted effect to the final A chord that coincides with this no?

So then you believe that he is definitely not muting anything right? I am not sure this will help or just complicate things, but this variation is very similar to the end of a typical Tomatito falseta which you can see at 3:08-3:12 ish here.

I always thought he bumped the lavalier mic clipped to his shirt. He bumps it another time in the video I can't remember where, but that time it clipped the signal and distorted. This youtube upload just sounds like a digital cut, but I remember from the vhs I first saw years ago (had best audio vs the one I bought years later again on vhs) it actually came off like an explosion like when you bump one of those super hot condensors. The original VHS also had a high pitched howl that was also a sound problem at the video's very start. I think the DVD does not have this problem, and they probably also soften the "explosion" of that mic bump. Ricardo
