I was just thinking...

I'm sure most people only know of Sabicas from the time when he was famous outside Spain.
I know he came from Pamplona, in the North of Spain, but I've never heard anything about him working in Andalucia, serving his time as an accompanist etc.

The first thing I really know about him is when he toured the States with Carmen Amaya.

Are there any recordings or anecdotes about him by his contemporaries when he was still in Spain until 1936?

cheers,

Ron

Hi Ron,

Oh yes. He caused a big sensation in Madrid and recorded with a number of famous singers before the war. His playing back then was still extremely good.
