Hi y'all,

I'd just like to share with you a video that I recorded last week of my kindergarten students saying the alphabet in Spanish por bulerías during the morning routines. Here it goes:

¡¡¡Ole su arte!!!

hahahaha it was so funny when the kids said ole. And wow the alphabets sound very different in Spanish. Where is this?

Outstanding Ole!! [:)]

Thats great!! Can I ask you what town you are in? All the kids have Olé in perfect compas. A lot of non Spanish think the jaleos are randomly thrown in whenever you feel like it. This is a good example of how even the kids know when to "jalear"

:-))) ooh, I want to attend that class!

This is in Austin, TX, where I teach a bilingual Kinder class (Math in English, and all the other areas in Spanish, including Language Arts). I had the idea of teaching them how to "jalear" and learn the bulerías rhythm very basically one day, when I grabbed the guitar to sing the alphabet song with them. I just decided that such song wasn't very cool and came up with this... now I'm working with them on different jaleos (bien, aha, hala, ole) every once in a while. It's a lot of fun! :D

Tomaketoma...Oléééé[:D]

Brilliant lesson. and The rhythm forces them not to hesitate, a perfect exercise.

I found this when I saw someone favorite this on youtube last week and showed it to my family. We all loved it! My 3 yr old started to jalear with your kids.

My wife teaches first grade and wants me to come in to teach it to her kids. First, I can't play a bulerias to save my life. Second, I can't imagine it would go nearly as smoothly in her classroom. I'd expect random Olés for the duration!

Thanks for sharing this.
