Thomas Whiteley -> Lunch with Mariano Cordoba (Feb. 27 2005 16:59:29)
|
Yesterday we had lunch with Mariano Cordoba, whom I have known over 46 years. Mariano is 80, remains very active, teaches flamenco guitar almost everyday of the week, and a great friend. Mariano has been the teacher to many of us in the San Francisco Bay Area, like Eddie Lastra, Martin, David (Jones) Serva, Freddie, and so many more. For those who do not know Mariano, he accompanied many top flamenco dancers and singers like Antonio Molina, and the dancer, Flora AlbaicĂn, and the greatest male flamenco dancer of them all, Antonio and his Spanish Ballet. Mariano is a very stimulating person to talk to, with a positive attitude, lots of stories, and great fun to play guitar with, which we did for several hours. Mariano will be publishing a new flamenco guitar book in the near future. Life is so short and the older I get the more I realize how important it is to keep contact with friends and family. Rather than think about getting together may I suggest you do it! You never know what tomorrow will bring so why not enjoy today? No procrastination allowed! Go do it! [:D]
