Hi Guys,

I've just been searching on spotify for some solea backing (compas) tracks and came across one disc that had solea backing ranging from speeds of 200 to 300 bpm.

If Solea is usually about 65 to 90 bpm then what would the super rapida backing tracks be used for? Even Solea por buleria isn't that fast.

Just curious!

Solea escobilla's usually can go really fast as they transition to bulerias, yet you don't have to change to proper bulerias type chording. 300 is not un heard of in this regard. But could also be they are double timing the compas. This also happens during solea escobilla where the palmas do bulerias speed as 8th notes, so 24 claps in one compas. The basic structure of solea stays slow and in 12 where the metronome SHOUD read half that number (100-200 bpm). not sure unless I listened.

I wasn't sure what you meant so I I searched YouTube for Solea Escobilla and a few dance class video's come up. I can just about hear the guitar in the video's and can hear what you mean.

I know that CD, it's pretty interesting. It has some of the most popular palos at some really insane speeds. Definitely worth a listen to see how the playing changes at those really high tempos. It's part of the Solo Compas series actually.
