Hi,

I´m curious about your thoughts on string width (from 1st to 6th string) on a guitar?

I have two flamenco guitars, one has 57mm at saddle and 42mm at nut. The other one has 62mm at saddle and 40mm at nut. I prefer the latter wider one, it gives more space for movement for the righthand.

Any thoughts on the matter? What is the usual width for most guitars? And how do you prefer it?

I build with 43/60 centre to centre, which is fairly standard I think.

I build 59mm at saddle (62 is way to big for me) and 44 - 46mm at nut depending on the nut width.

I build standard 46-48nut -60 mm saddle unless there is a request for something different.

Most players can usually manage with this style. Many Miguel Rodriguez and Conde guitars have this measurement.

hmm.. 46/57 with a 53 mm nut. I've never had trouble with arpeggios/tremolo with this spacing and it makes things tighter for alzapua and picado. But everybody is different.
