The lyrics to the song are " Banker banker banker _ I have no money - take pity " !

LOL, These flash mobs are becoming quite cultural.

Just before I left London I saw something on the news about an Opera Flash mob.

The funny thing about that video Kate is that the security aren't quite sure how to deal with them. If they were rowdy and violent they would just jump on them but because they're dancing the security have to hold back...[:D][:D][:D]

Don't worry mate, it's No Scots (or should I say "Scotch") too...

I can't get it either, but it seems sean65 in London can.

My browser says it's an unsafe site, viruses etc, so I played it safe and closed the tab. Is there another url where the clip might be?

I'm in Spain for the next few weeks so I guess RTE do the same as the BBC and just keep their content local.

For those who can see it, a group of about twenty girls and a few guys are dancing to music in the foyer of a branch of Santander bank, with security and bank staff looking like a bunch of ****s.

We need more of this kind of non violent but disruptive demonstration.[8D]

I remember 'No Leather Jackets' (meaning No Bikers)[:D]

Santander?

The worst bank I have ever dealt with.

Here is an amusing account of my dealings with them.... (I'm signed in as "oldperro"[:D])

LOL,... Don't we all Henry. It's great to see an honest straight talking guy air his opinion.

What always amazes me is why all the journalists seem to scuff the real issue and ask watered down pithy question instead of cutting to the chase.[:@]

Kate -> RE: Flamenco flashmob, protesting in a bank (Dec. 23 2010 10:14:32)

Am sorry about that. I have a mac and didnt have a problem, at least no so far. If it downloaded something to my computer it has not done anything yet.

I use a Mac so I guess that must be why I had no problem viewing it. Virus's are generally written for the Windows platform.

Might be an idea to remove the link just in case someone who doesn't have a virus checker clicks on it... better safe than sorry.

Donald -> RE: Flamenco flashmob, protesting in a bank (Dec. 25 2010 21:07:15)

I remember dj Ken Bruce on Radio 2 being asked by a female colleague on what to call Fred the Shred, ex head of the Royal Bank. He replied: "Lets just call him a banker , shall we". Santander gobbled up the former building society, Abbey National on the cheap after the management messed up. They went on to do the same thing with the Alliance and Leicester in the midst of the banking crisis.

Teacher Felipe de Algeciras related the story recently of a businessman in Algeciras who shot himself outside a bank which took possession of business, house and everything.

sean65 -> RE: Flamenco flashmob, protesting in a bank (Dec. 25 2010 21:59:49)

i get the impression that Santander are a smart bank, that's why they were in a position to go shopping and buy all the banks that were panicking.

The problem was that when they bought the English building societies, they left the existing 'Micky Mouse' management in place and that's where it all went wrong.

At the end of the day, they're all just a bunch of bankers who, collectively, have ruined many many peoples lives.
