Looks like lasonanta and mundoflamenco are carrying his guitars. They look really pretty but I wasn't too impressed by the sound clips either.

Hello,
I'm Vassilis Lazarides,constructor of flamenco and classical guitars.
One of my friends told me about that discussion in the forum so thats why i am here.
I will stay in the fact that Mr.Gounaropoulos made some negative comments about my guitars.If you (mr.gounaropoulos) have tried my guitars in my workshop (a think that i dont remember) or somewhere else tell me more specific details about your observations and i will pay all my attention to them.
If you want to listen my guitars (correctly and not from videos) and test their playability feel free to visit my workshop
I dont know if you have seen my video-sound samples on my website (they where homemade with just a camera so that explains some things about the sound)Now its updated and if you will look on the flamenco section you will see some good samples. http://lazaridesguitars.com/
P.S.One of my friends (yorgos valiris) who lives and working in Holand wil play some concert in Athens in February(if you are interested in hearing the guitars live)

I had private email from mr Valiris (you can see him performing countless different guitars in youtube) and he only had good things to say about Lazarides guitars.

Κε Λαζαριδη,

Ημουν Ελλαδα τα Χριστουγεννα αλλα δυστυχως δεν προλαβα να σας επισκεφτω. Ισως το καλοκαιρι. Πηγα στον Ανδρομηδα και δοκιμασα μερικες κιθαρες. Υπαρχει καπου αλλου στην Αθηνα/Ελλαδα που μπορω να βρω κιθαρες flamenco;

dorspy -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 17:02:49)

elgreco -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 19:29:18)

prd1 -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 19:43:43)

...easy enough for you to say.

elgreco -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 19:53:25)

Sorry Prd1. I have seen a few posts in Spanish so I thought nobody would mind if I wrote something in more of a personal nature in Greek. Let me translate for you:

Mr Lazarides I was in Greece over Xmas but unfortunately I was unable to visit you. Maybe the summer. I went to andromidas.gr and tried a few guitars. Are there any other places in Athens/Greece where I can get my hands on flamenco guitars?

Then dorspy recommended that I shouldn't buy guitars from Greece but instead get Spanish guitars from Spain. He has reservations about the "flamenconess" of Greek guitar makers even though he has not tried or knows of Lazarides. To which I replied:

My thinking was that if there is a Greek luthier that makes equal or better quality flamenco guitars then why not help him out and support domestic production. In the particular case of mr Lazarides there was particular interest and curiosity because his guitars are sold by famous European guitar stores. I am also interested in the prospect of buying a Spanish guitar from Greece because here in the states the Spanish guitars have import and sales taxes plus the dollar is weak. Maybe we should switch back to English. Send me a personal message to introduce yourself and have a chat

Good bye
Dinos

prd1 -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 20:20:11)

Thanks for the interpretation.

I was rather interested to see where this conversation went... my interest here lies in the fact that the battered luthier in question has responded in person to defend himself.

It's very easy to sit behind a computer, ask a general question without giving an opinion and then jump on the bandwagon when you get a response. I would have much rather you gave your opinion first then asked the forum for their own views (views and opinions - not facts).

Does it matter if the guy is in Greece - if you took the label out of the guitar could you tell where it was built? As another contributor always reminds - a good guitar is a good guitar.

I introduced myself to the forum about 4 or 5 years ago...

Cheers!!!

Peter

elgreco -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 20:23:52)

Hi Peter,

I have not had the pleasure or the ability to try one of his guitars. They are not sold in the States. Hence I cannot have an opinion. The person that doubted mr Lazarides guitars was not me, it was gounaro. The person that doubts the Greek luthiers is not me but dorspy. Finally the request for introduction was not aimed to you, I was still translating my response to dorspy. I know it is all Greek to you, but please read the threads more carefully. [:D]

prd1 -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 20:42:09)

My mistake - I apologise - easy mistake to make as you started the mail with "sorry PRD1" and ended with "Send me a personal message to introduce yourself and have a chat" without any de-lineating punctuation inbetween.

I guess it was someone else that wrote "They look really pretty but I wasn't too impressed by the sound clips either"

Nice one

Lazarides_guitars -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 20:47:58)

Good evening,
El greco as i know here in Athens i am the only one who constructs flamenco guitars.The shop Andromidas sells guitars from many important guitar constructors.
Dorspy i always try to satisfy my customers.I believe that everyone who wants to buy a guitar can choose between a big range of prices.Even if someone is not well informed,he has to know that a guitar isnt only a box that produces tone,but a piece of art also.So that's the reason (and with many other factors) that cheap and expensive guitars exist.I can name many guitar builders that live and construct in Spain but they are not Spanish and of course there are many good spanish guitar constructors.I dont know if the name DeVoe says something to you.I believe that guitar players have to be more careful when they buy guitars from Spain (they have to be well informed) because i have listened many sad stories from people who had a dream to buy a spanish guitar.(spanish guitar is a kind of guitar,it isnt necessary to be constructed in spain or from a spanish constructor).
Now as concerns me 90% of my guitars are sold abroad (Κανένας προφήτης στον τόπο του και λυπάμαι γι'αυτό.)
Lasonanta and Elmunto flamenco sell my guitar at the moment and very soon in england and in spain
P.S. I believe that my presence here has no meaning.So i wish from my heart to all of you to find everything that you want and to have a really happy new year

prd1 -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 20:54:37)

Your presence here is as welcome and valued as all other contributors - without builders we have no guitars!

Good luck!!!

elgreco -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jan. 15 2011 21:01:40)

I was not impressed by the sound quality of the clips. Mr Lazarides agreed with me and recommended other source of sound clips. I signed twice. One was the translation one was my signature to you. If you didn't get it, what can I tell you.

Thanito -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (May 31 2012 19:39:16)

I have been playing with Lazarides flamenco guitars since 2007 and I think they are very special instruments. Nowadays, many professional flamenco guitarists around the world prefer Vassilis' guitars for recording and performing. The best proof and reward for him is the love and passion that great Jeronimo applies for Lazarides art mastery! If someone ever play with one of Vassilis flamenco guitars he will miss it and get so impatient until the next mystical time with "her"!

RTC -> RE: Vasilis Lazarides (Jun. 1 2012 3:10:56)

Vasillis:

Tom From LaFalseta.com used to have a tag line on his signature that went something like this: (maybe Tom can post his actual saying)

A Great Guitar is a Great Guitar the label does not matter.

I am sure that a great guitar out of Greece is a great guitar anywhere.

Your "Alma Flamenca" video is fantastic as well as your web site. Your guitars look beautiful, and was impressed with the sound.

I wish you much success in your endeavors.
