It's been a very long time since I played in front of an audience, I don't remember how many years.
Last night I was playing at a talent show that happens every year it at work, it lasts about 3 hours and there are different acts.

So I signed up to play some Gipsy Kings. That's what got me into flamenco.
During my first song, Bomboleo, I was nervous as hell, I was sweating like a pig. I was not able to remember the second chord and of course, it's the same 4 or 5 chords that repeat throughout the song. So every time I came to that chord I tried a different one until the end... and I never found it. [8D]

Good thing the sound was crappy and people were loud and getting drunk. Everybody still liked it and they were all dancing anyways.

I have found that when one plays for a group of people who are not necessarily aficionados, one can make mistakes and it doesn't really matter. If it sounds even vaguely Spanish, they think it's pretty cool.

Cheers,

Bill

another funny story , once I did a short gig in a restaurant which has a fountain in the middle and I was so close to it that the moisture got its way into my guitar and my fingers ruining the whole tune [:@] ouch ..... it was a disaster til this day I don't know what happened but what I know is that I didn't play a single correct note but the audience enjoyed what I did ...... lol ...losers [8D]

lol, yeah it's a good thing they don't pay as much attention to the music as musicians.
And common say tell the truth, it wasn't no condensation, it was you sweating!!! Just like me!!!

Next time it will be easier. My first performance was in front of my high school. I think i was 14. I TRIED to play Solea. It was a nervous out of compas mess but everyone clapped at the end. Well done for getting up and having a go.

I remember doing a gig once. I agreed to play second guitar for a friend. He had a heap of stuff worked out with a Dancer and i was following.

Anyway, during the show his string broke and he ran over to his guitar case to get another one in the dark. I kept the rhythm going and realized that i had no falsetas or interesting chords in that particular key. The dancer was dancing and i was repeating the same thing over and over.[:D][:D]

He returned and began tuning up the string only to realize that he had replaced the 4th string with a 5th. He tuned it to some weird low note and we finished the song. The silent audience did not laugh even though i was laughing and looking at the ground. That was a song i won't forget. They still clapped and remained serious even when it was terrible and extremely funny.[:D]
