gounaro -> Shopping in Sevilla (Advices) (Nov. 17 2010 17:01:48)

I'm planning to visit Seville at March just to take a look and of course to buy a guitar. I'm not intending to search for a new one. On the contrary i'm looking for a second hand blanca with THE (EASY HUH? [:D]) special flamenco sound.

I want you to recommend me some luthiers who have already made some second hand guitars or they have them in store just for testing. You know that sometimes you can find a "treasure" in these shops. I dont want to wait 2 - 3 months to built the guitar

Does anybody has experience on shopping in Seville? I want you to give me some advices and name some luthiers where i can shop or tell me some secrets what to beware of buying a guitar in Andalucia.

Hello doublek.

I have seen your posts about Jesus de Jimenez and i have already emailed him. He answered me immediately and recommend me to visit him to listen his guitars.

Hi gounaro [:)]

Was in Sevilla for one year in 2001-2002, and bought my guitar by Francisco Barba, one of the three artisanal guitar makers of the city at that time (father and son). Very good man, could advice you. Calle Arroyo 18 at that time.

Jose Luis Postigo also used to sell second-hand guitars, in his shop in Santa Cruz

Good luck in Seville; but, I was there last spring and was disappointed in what I saw and played in high end guitars. I found the same situation in Granada. I did find a great blanca from Felix Manzanero in Madrid, but it was already sold. I finally did buy a guitar, one of the cheapest one's I played, from Pedro Maldonado Jr. near Malaga. It was a shop guitar for a fraction of what others costs and proved to be more playable with more sound than any of the others. Pedro put his label in it, but of course, would not sign it. So, don't discount the lower price models.
