Yeah Kate, that's for a straight hire though. I'm sure like many theatres/auditoriums they would be prepared to negociate for a percentage of the door takings if they reckoned it might be a good bet. I could only listen to bits of the programme, but apparently they are getting hired by "vanity performers", ie wealthy folk who sing/dance/play a little and have always dreamed of one day playing the Albert Hall. So they pay their money and issue tickets out to all their friends etc! It's a sort of new slant in "vanity" publishing. The management are exploring new ways of bringing in revenue, for instance, by offering amateur choirs etc a chance to sing the "Messiah" etc, with a full orchestra in one of the World's most prestigious venues. If you are part of, say, a 50 strong amateur choir, or a large amateur orchestra, then if everybody chucks in a few hundred quid then you'll have a night to remember. Combine that with a few days stay in London and voila, you have a great package holiday! Quite cool, really. Mind you, some folk just chance their luck and put on a concert there. One poor bugger (a guitarist, I believe), saved up his dough and hired the hall, and only 200 folk turned up! cheers Ron
