Ramon Amira -> Augustine Classic strings (Nov. 16 2010 3:23:35)

In the sixties and seventies, Augustine strings were made with the original Dupont nylon formulation, and they had all kinds of intonation problems. Now Augustine calls those strings "Augustine Classic." My question is has anyone used these "Classic" model strings lately, and do they still have those same – or any – intonation problems. And what do you think of them in general.

I used Augustine strings in the early 90's, and no problem's with intonation. And I did try the Classic and found that it did mate with my guitar well, however they sound beautiful on my friends Humphrey. Strings react differently from one guitar to another. And it it is also important to remember that sound is subjective.

Thanks for the info. I always used to like the sound of Augustine trebles, but of course couldn't deal with the intonation problems. On this basis, I will give them a try.

I used them in the 2008-2010s and had no problems [:D]
They must be getting better and better! [:-]

as our member friend said it really depens on your guitar, some years ago I asked

a dealer why they stopped selling them and he said that someimes cutomers came

back saying that ex: the 4th string is 50% shorter than it should be and the 5th was

like 2 meter !!! I have not used them since a few years ago, might give it a try,

the red one normal tension. at the moment I use mostly Dadario ej45/ej49

and I am satisfied, planning to buy lanella 820 and 2001 also, lhave no experience

of those, Luthier is ok, the strings that I totally stopped using is Savarez.
