Took some shots in the city this evening. This is probably the best of them.

Crystal clear, I like it.
River Dog Images?

Congrats with your photo in the newspaper!

Escribano -> RE: My photo of the week (Nov. 4 2010 10:05:44)

Thanks Kozz. They were taken on the Canon DSLR this time.

I think I am getting closer to a specific style of black and white photograph; one that I would like to imagine in a book or magazine, one day.

River is my dog and he will not be around much longer, so I wanted to find a way to use his name and maybe his image in a logo.

Very nice photos Simon!!

You really capture a lot of atmosphere with your techniques. Please share more as you capture them.

I can't imagine why they won't be in a book or magazine, you got an eye for composition and detail.
I am sorry to hear about your dog, its a nobel way to make him immortal so to speak.
As I've been lying down for quite some time now, I started watching the Dogwhisper (yeah I couldn't imagine myselve), but after surgery I'll get myself a dog too!

Are you using hdr imaging?

No Mike, they are single RAW exposures that I convert to b/w in Silver Efex Pro which has a great zonal system for adjusting the image and adding some b/w film types amongst many other things, but no HDR. It has a setting called "structure" which pops the detail and looks like a mild HDR effect. A bit like a higher contrast photographic paper.

You should check out the 15 day trial.

Great shots Escribano. [:)]
I really like b/w photos.

IMO a great videomaker or director need some good skills for shooting fotos. It's the base.
S. Kubrick or C. Saura are photographer before being director (and many more for sure).

One of my fav is Henry Cartier-Bresson. Able to catch The moment...

Good luck with the submition to the Royal Photographic Society.

Ron.M -> RE: My photo of the week (Nov. 4 2010 18:46:06)

I'm not ignoring your photo posts, Simon...it's just that I'm not educated in the technical side and all the techniques and settings like others are on the Forum.

I can only say they look really professional, like a glossy magazine.

cheers,

Ron
