Awesome, maestro! How can you upload a video whose length exceeds 10 minutes (onto YouTube) though?

Cool, thanks for sharing - very generous. Especially like the por medio meanderings in the second one.

KMMI77 -> RE: Free Private lesson videos from Jason McGuire (Nov. 2 2010 9:16:05)

It was interesting to listen to your approach.

Nice salute and punching in that alegrias de cordoba. Made me want to dig out my old luis de cordoba cassette tape.

I have had way too much experience dealing with know it all aficionados that don't actually know very much. Talking flamenco is cool. listening and playing is better.

The point I'm stressing is making some contrasts. We should do it with dynamics and we should also try to do it with our note choices.

that was hilarious!

it's awesome to see music theory put to practical use in flamenco. now i see a point in studying all that boring stuff.

that was more mind opening than reading my idiot's guide to music theory book twice.

Gummy -> RE: Free Private lesson videos from Jason McGuire (Nov. 2 2010 20:44:08)

It is way above my level but is really great inspiration. I like the feel of the videos. It is good to see the personality come through and the softer camera lighting(as compared with the online lessons which are also great).

It also seems strange seeing you do instruction with a capo.... Cool

I always prefer music that does this. I find alegria to sound a little boring if it fails to utilize minor chords and scales. I play more alegria falsetas that resolve to e minor due to that being the case with many that have appealed to me.

I have been working on new ideas for alegria lately so your video has come at a good time. The main theme i have come up with follows the hinting of minor theory. These chords accompany the main theme.

Andy Culpepper -> RE: Free Private lesson videos from Jason McGuire (Nov. 2 2010 20:54:49)

Invaluable, thank you maestro. I like the way your brain works... very flamenco (except for all the theory stuff) [:D]

I see dominant chords in a much more sinister light now, like the other chords are getting mugged or something [:D]

mrMagenta -> RE: Free Private lesson videos from Jason McGuire (Nov. 3 2010 20:24:23)

Excellent alegrias harmony lesson!
So many great things to try now :-)

RTC -> RE: Free Private lesson videos from Jason McGuire (Nov. 5 2010 1:08:00)
