Rob MacKillop -> False Nails? (Oct. 19 2010 16:08:54)

I've been away from flamenco guitar for five years, and have become used to playing guitars and lutes without nails. Now I'm exploring flamenco guitar again, so please tell me that in the intervening years some bright spark has invented flase nails you can take on and off, and which withstand the rigours of flamenco...

I'm afraid not, Rob...the only false nails are the acrylic type which actually bond on to the surace of the real nail.

The "fingerpicks" you used to get for steel string "folk" guitar are no use at all for Flamenco.

If you are just wanting to play around with Flamenco "compositions", then things like that Zapateado on the other Forum would probably sound OK just played as a musical "piece", but without the Flamenco "tone".

cheers,

Ron

Thanks. Those Rico nails got a terrible review in England. The guy said they were WAY over priced. Just go to a beauty salon and get ten times the amount of plastic nails for the same price...Well, I'll give them a try...
