Hi,

looking for flamenco with arabic influences, if you have anything, please post.

like the use of specific melodic lines, scales/modes, chords, oud-like technics (use of thumb, which is often used), melodic slides, quarter notes etc.

The Album " Flamenco Arabe " by " Hossam Ramzy/Rafa Tachuela " is what you need I guess ,it has very nice stuff. arab palos like hijaz , rast and malfuf mixed with flamenco palos buleria , rondena, granaina and taranto etc
I'll search for melodic lines and scales in my library hope i find some to post .

btw I really feel that arabic music and flamenco can be, unlike jazz, a very interesting combination.

Well, all flamenco is influenced by arabic music... If you want to go for some obvious arabic melodies.. Check some older records of Sabicas. There you will come across Zambras... that sounds pretty arabic.

I also like the first track on the CD Zaguan of Miguel Poveda. Chicuelo plays guitar and the theme sounds very arabic...like a loud.

Than check some older Paco records. For example the bulerias Almoraima. and on Siroco the Tangos.

Check out Amir Haddad....fantastic Flamenco player from Palestinian/South American parents who also plays Oud with Radio Tarifa.

I loved this bulerias falseta from his "Understanding Flamenco" CD.

I tried to copy it, but it's still not quite right...but will give you some idea anyway...

yohan,

as Doitsujin wrote, all flamenco is influenced by arabic music, it is not a question of combining the two rather than extending the latter, right? But I agree it is a interesting combination/influence.

Would be nice to here some more melodic sliding and quarter notes (through bending).

There was no "mixing." They took turns. Never was the tempered scale juxtaposed with the arab maqamat. Tomatito was very careful to play only single lines against the singer, no chords.

Loley and Manuel Molina did some awesome stuff. I would recommend having a listen to them. Watch out for some very cheesy electric guitar solo's on a few of their albums though.They come in out of nowhere.[:D]

Thanks for the Itamar Erez link, hadn´t heard of him before, sounded great. I have a friend that sometimes uses pieces of matchsticks in between frets to get those quarter notes, it works fine.

Check Radio Tarifa also, they have some very nice tangos.
Check Tangos del Agujero on the album Rumba Argelina (not on Fiebre).
