Was curious if there was such a thing attempted or really exists given the history.

I am far more familiar with Cuban music than I am with flamenco at the moment, and have been immersed in the traditional music genres and dances of the region for a good number of years now.

So naturally when I found out about the origins of the rumba palo (don't flog me if you don't think it is actually one), I wanted to know if there have been any interesting or notable works involving collaboration with cuban artists.

Bebo Valdes & Diego El Cigala did a collaboration that I love sooo much. That mean different palos, but that's the only collaboration between Flamenco and Cuban music as far as I know....hope that helps

Thanks for sharing that, I did enjoy some of the songs I found.

I guess my original question came about after hearing a notable Canadian guitarist demonstrate that the afro-cuban clave beat (either 2-3 or 3-2) is inherit in the rumba flamenca strum patterns.

If his claim is true, and considering that everything in Cuban music from guaganco, bolero, son, cha cha cha, salsa, and its modern day derivative timba is built strictly around the clave beat, I am surprised that of all the fusion project flamenco masters have done, there hasn't been anything to marry it back to the cuban sound. The two would go together like steak and wine.

check out this album : familia valera miranda, cante de ida y vuelta

A good work, i like this kind of fusion.

Also some Chano Lobato song have a strong cuban sabor like la negra tomasa or cacharrito

you're welcome.

An another band i like to listen is "Los Patriarcas de la rumba catalana"

Also for a traditional instrument like el Tres Cubano, you can hear a fantastic fusion of this instrument in the puro flamenco sound of Son de la Frontera

EDIT :i add this vid a good example of JUERGA CATALANA[:D] Ole!

Hi, apak,

Which notable Canadian guitarist was it and is his demonstration accessible online?

Would you mind if I were to PM you? I have some questions about Afro-Cuban music that would really be waaaaay off-topic for a flamenco forum.
