hi mimmo, welcome to the foro! i'd love to try out these nylgut strings. i hope there's some left!

gj, i used to be a loyal d'addario user but now i like luthiers as well. i currently have on the dark silver 45 basses and their white trebles. i still haven't found anything that could beat a d'addario composite g string though.

Interesting, At_Leo. I thought in the same absolute terms. Recently, I tried the D'Addario with its composite G and could not believe I used to be so fond of it. I rediscovered the plain Nylon G on the Popular Supreme Luthier set. I love it. It is normal tension, however, and it may not perform as well on a higher tension set.

I must confess that I was influenced on all counts (Luthier's strings, Pop Supreme [normal] tension and reluctance towards the composite G) by one of Ricardo's posts. I am really pleased I followed his advice.

How is your new guitar treating you?

i wonder if all the luthier nylons are the same. i have the white trebles and they ARE very nice. have you noticed their strings have a slippery coated feel? or is it just me?

it's great! thanks for asking! im still discovering new things about her but more importantly she's leading me to discover new things about myself.

i keep saying i'll record a video but any down time i get, i just want to sit back and relax. i'll get there though. [:D]

They do indeed, at least at the outset.

I have been saying that for a while and end up doing the same. But each time I think I am ready to “show what I got” something inhibits my temerity (fortunately) and I humbly adjourn the date of my video debut.

One of these days....

I will be restringing with the alabastros today.

To be fair, I flayed in the guitar on a set of d'addarios for two hours.

made sure the humidity was correct and i have been keeping it at a constant temp.

I will be posting a review in the next week or so

Cool. I am also stringing them today. I will play them for at least one month before making a judgement, to value long term effects too.

I just put Aquila Alabastro normal tension trebles (new nylgut!) on my Mundo Flamenco 3AF blanca, and I like them very much. They are not really high in tension, so for those who prefer harder tension the 'superior tension' would be better (they are also a little bit thicker in diameter).

Aquila must have improved the formulation, because with the old nylgut intonation was always a bit of a problem, but now it's good. They sound marvelous, crisp and full of harmonics; they also have a bit longer sustain, not as long as fluorocarbon though...

Definitely worth trying IMHO! please note, I'm talking only about trebles, the basses are a bit to mellow for my taste.

I have tried two sets of these strings, I got the second set free because the bass E string snapped immediately when I started to tension it. I liked them at first, they do have a crisp dry sound. But I had a bad problem with excessive buzzing on the trebles which I don't have with other strings. That led me to abandon them. Maybe I need the higher tension version. I had some leftover Savarez Tomatito strings so I gave those a try, total garbage. Sound like flubber bands and I had a really hard time playing Picado like the the strings were fighting my fingers. Last set I had lying around were Aranjuez black trebles so I put those and they aren't so bad, definitely playable and descent sound. I have some Luthier 20's coming so will try those next.
