I don't quite get Paco's fear of mentioning the "unspeakable" cante?

I have the Paco/Camaron second album where they do "En la Provincia de Cadiz" (track 5) which is exactly THAT song...

Has Paco "found" superstition, like others have found El Culto?

(I would upload it, but I fear the whole Forum may crash and lose all of Simon's recent hard work.[;)])

cheers,

Ron

Probably age.
When young people are daring and feel strong. When old they feel weak and vulnerable and act accordingly.

I guess I'll add my experience here (and it is absolutely true!). When my grandfather passed away, I went to the service and was handed a sort of program. At the top of the page was the name of the priest: "Reverend Boring". I kid you not!
Also, great playing Ron! And another "thank you" to Norman for the trouble to translate for us!

I love that one gj!

Could be straight out of a Bond movie!!

I don't remember his first name, but some years ago the last name of the President of the famous Colt Firearms Company was Gunn.

Along the same lines, I have come across some funny names of Companies. I don't remember most of them, but two of them have stuck in my mind.

Sexower Co.

But the best one I have ever seen was –

Rapid Mounting and Finishing

EDIT: I just Googled it, and this company is still in business! Hey - why not?

OK, real person Rob Loblaw always cracks me up. Say that fast a couple of times.

And who can forget Life of Brian 'Biggus Dickus' and 'Incontinentia Buttocks'

A friend of mine from Amarillo, Texas says that when she was a girl they went to the dentists, Drs. Payne and Hatchett.

When my mother was a girl, her dentist was Dr. Pullem

mark indigo -> RE: Paco interview (Aug. 17 2010 21:09:46)

...and what about flamenco guitarists called "Juan Carmona"??!!!

NormanKliman -> RE: Paco interview (Aug. 18 2010 15:45:10)

There's a review in Diario de Jerez of Paco's concert:

http://www.diariodejerez.es/article/ocio/770175/eterno/lunes/noche/jerez.html

I'm not going to translate it because it's too long and there's not really much
interesting information anyway. One thing worth mentioning is that he asked
the audience for a round of applause for Moraíto and Diego del Morao, saying
that they're two of the best guitarists in history and that they were making
him feel nervous that night.[:D]

Spanish politeness never ceases to amuse me. [:D]
They say come for dinner. When you go they look at you surprised and pretend they have never encountered the word dinner in their entire life. [:D]

Paco's interviewers should be required to view his documentary before questioning him. I am sick of the same old questions and the same old responses.

About the name game you guys are playing. When I was in middle school (age 11-13) I
found it interesting the industrial arts teacher (making things out of sheet metal and
wood and stuff) was named Mr. Kraft, the home economics teacher was named Mrs.
Baker, the band teacher was named Mr. Propts, and the school nurse was mrs. Skelton. [8D]

In an altered state from a high fever due to the flu, I fell to reading the Austin, Texas telephone directory. I ran across Ray Grunt and Prissy Fullilove.

After the fever abated, they were still there.
