Galli Genius Titanum Low tension vs Hense Carbon Low tension
Galli, from Italy, had PURPLE titanum treble strings. I must admit they looked much better once blended with the colour of the guitar. The diameters of them were quite thick considering they were supposed to be low tension. The sound and feel - felt very similar to Pro-Arte normal tensions except the strings were thicker. In saying that it's been such a long time since I've used Pro-Arte so you shouldn't quote me on that.
Overall pretty average in all facets - tone, separation, volume, playablity, response, attack. Can't say much about the durability though - took them off as soon as I knew that I didn't like them.
Hense - the German one - was great in every aspect. Just the right diameter for me, VERY crisp playbility (the treble has that unpolished texture which some may not be fond of) and good "feel" - it looked like it meant business right out of the packet (don't ask me what made me feel that way [:D]).
And that tone, whoa, is something else. VERY unique sound. Focused and tight but just the right amount of overtones. And when you strum, the strings sound like they really work together to create another spectrum of sound.
My guitar is a classical one, a very good one nevertheless. And with these strings it sounds the most flamenco as it has ever been.
I think I'm converted.
ps. oh the durability might be under question though, the D string is showing some sign of wear already - it's been played for a total of FOUR hours over a few days. But I don't care.... I'll just order few more of the D strings when I order a whole lot of these.
Anyway I hope this info helps those looking to try new strings.
