at_leo_87 -> RE: Buying a guitar in Spain that will survive in Canada (Jul. 13 2010 1:09:18)

what determines a guitar's resiliency is more than where's it's made. it's also where the woods are from, how they are cut, and how well aged they are plus probably a billion other factors that the lutheirs here can tell you about. but most importantly, it's up to you how well your guitar is maintained. plenty of people guitars from spain and bring it back to wherever they're from with no problems. bottom line is, it's probably not a good idea to choose your guitar based on where it's from, unless it's from a desert or rainforest. dont worry, first things first, go to the ten gazillion shops in spain and try out each guitar. that's the fun part, worry about that other stuff later. [:D] if you're really worried, check out the luthiery section. there's a thread about jeff sigurdson, i believe he's in canada.
