thats right Mark! [:D] Works for bulerias, solea, tangos, rumba, tanguillo, solea por buleria, seguiriya,... probably more. [EDIT: i forgot tientos^^]
Reinhart, jokes aside, i dont think its good for you if somebody else does your homework. Just take the scales and form chords. Listen to music, buy some books, take some lessons... thats how everybody does it and gets along with it (more or less well). I mean from what i remember you are a professional musician, right??? Maybe im a bit old-fashioned, but the question you ask is part of the job of a musician. And aside from that it is alot of fun to make your own experiences, being moved by a chord and trying to hear it out or something...

Reinhart -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 6 2010 15:54:24)

I have a ton of chord progressions thats my own, but whats wrong with asking for others? Looking for some advance chord progressions if someone is willing to share? I dont mind making up my own but is it a crime to ask for some chord progressions? Ive never met a flamenco player in person where i live and this site is the only source to get in contact with you guys.

"but the question you ask is part of the job of a musician"

So yea im asking. . .

That says it all. A musician is made up of many influences. You should choose performances that interest you and learn them. Look for performances with cante, so the guitar will be a little less complicated.

What I do: save youtube videos using 'download helper' for firefox (free add on).
Save as a MOV and playback in Quicktime using the playbeck speed adjustment to slow it down.

Sigh never mind. . . . . .

Make a bulerias falseta with this chord progression.

there's nothing wrong with asking for anything, but there's also nothing wrong with questioning why you are asking and what you are asking for

do you want chord progressions for accompanying cante?

or accompanying baile?

or for using as a base for improvising or composing arpegio/alzapua/tremelo falsetas?

maybe if you want "flamenco" chord progressions you can learn some flamenco and then figure out what the underlying chord progressions are... but what for?

i guess you could use the theory to transpose the falsetas to other keys or something....

Can anyone please give me some chord progressions from bulerias, rumba's ect. . I know al the basic chords and some advance ones and have the ALl Flamenco CHord pdf but i want some connectable chords that i can experiment with please?
Some tabs would also be appreciated thanks in advance!

Dude, just learn flamenco for cryin out loud. You keep coming on with deeper and deeper investigations trying to stay just above the surface of true flamenco, be it technique, chord progressions, nail shape, or professional working advice. I think it is time you just sat down and learned the true structures of flamenco form, then the "progressions" and reasons for raised eyebrows to your line of questioning, will all come into focus.

you're welcome?...[8|]

dpalfstad -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 14:24:07)

I taught myself to play the pedal steel guitar. There is a Steel Guitar Forum where guys hang out, including some of the biggest named players of the instrument. The guys on that forum LOVE to help newbies and they all jump at the chance to lend guidance. (Often, answers come directly from the big dogs themselves. For example, Lloyd Green--one of the most recorded steel players in history--personally answered one of my questions I had about his playing.)

I also build R/C airplanes and was involved in a forum for that too. Anyone who asked questions was always greeted with a plethora of cheerful responses, and those guys used their expertise to help folks like me learn the tricks of the trade. (Subsequently, my first airplane turned out beautifully and flies great!)

This forum, on the other hand, seems to be very standoffish, and unless you are already an established player, good luck getting questions answered. I enjoy "lurking" and watch it every day, but as a newbie I have already experienced somewhat of a brush-off and a cold shoulder. I wonder what makes this forum so different?

So, Reinhart, as much as I hate to say it--that's just the way it is. If I could help I would, but I am in the same boat as you. Unfortunately, not all of us Flamenco enthusiasts live in Spain. I am doomed to live in Iowa and there is NO Flamenco here.

Ron.M -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 14:55:59)

That's not true dpalfstad!

If you look through the archives you'll find threads by newbies who received help from lots of folk.

Sure, this is a Flamenco forum, for folk wanting to learn Flamenco, not any other styles or hybrid styles (Spanishy stuff).

It only gets difficult when beginners decide themselves WHAT they want to learn, HOW they want to learn it and WHAT they want to be taught, to suit their own perception (or mis-perception) of Flamenco and Flamenco guitar.

You'll find the same problem with a one to one teacher, either in the US or in Spain, I'm afraid.

cheers,

Ron

Arash -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 15:43:24)

this forum is not standoffish, etc.

i don't know how many thousand times i have read (let say Ricardo for instance) explaining to some beginners again and again: please please please PLEASE focus on Compas and Rythm first, before starting to improvise spanish sounding stuff with chords, scales, etc..... otherwise you end up like some John Clarke dude, playing some spanish sounding stuff.......

http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=91925&appid=&p=&mpage=1&key=&tmode=&smode=&s=#91944

Compas, Rythm, Fundament - FIRST - then everything else........PLEASE

If you want to learn some spanish sounding stuff, improvise with some "cool" chords only, but not real flamenco, then yes, this forum is wrong place. Instead watch some youtube videos from that John Clarke dude and learn that stuff. No one here is interested to help you learn that spanish stuff.

if someone is really interested to learn real flamenco, he can have information in this foro and its archive worth thousands of dollars.

but if someone comes up with some question to which one can't even give a detailed answer (like this one), then please don't expect a friendly 100 page Novel., and even here he received some good answers and suggestions

Reinhart -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 16:22:03)

lol yea that was my noobish post just when i joined lol, I should not of posted this thread from the start and sounding like a noob back in 08. Please ignore this thread, and sorry for wasting time here. . .

Ron.M -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 16:49:01)

It's OK Reinhart...it's just that some questions don't have much relevance or make much sense in Flamenco.

Folk here always assume that you are trying to learn proper Flamenco guitar...so that's why some of the "advice" may seem infuriating...

eg..

Beginner: Hi, I'm new to Flamenco and want to learn how to make my
a,m,i (all down) a,m,i (all up) raqueo faster and better.

Reply: Nobody ever uses that in Flamenco...you'd be better with
a,m,i (down) then i,(up) ...(repeat).... That's what the Flamencos use.

Beginner: But I LIKE my raqueo..I just want to make it sound better.

Reply: Sorry...never heard of it...can't help you...(and BTW the term is rasgueado or rasgueo)

Beginner: You're all a bunch of snobs here![:@]

So you see the difficulty? [:D]

cheers,

Ron

ok, you are right.
i didn't check the dates.
so basically nothing wrong with that first post of yours.
sorry

but no need to close the thread or get offended.

so, you chose "the right way" back in 2008 and till now worked on compas/rythm of the different flamenco palos ? thats good.

XXX -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 17:04:37)

well, to help him, the threadstarter would have had to say how far his knowledge already is. He says he has tons of chords, which is just ridiculous. I know alot of chords, and i would never say i have "a ton". Besides what does etc in this context mean: "chord progressions from bulerias, rumba's ect. . "? ALL palos??? If he had said: hey i have a problem with THIS thing here, different case. But this way it should be obvious that the threadstarter has no specific problem with a palo, or compas, or chord, but only wants to get some little shortcuts for some *sigh* spanish flavour influenced music. As he says: "from" Bulerias, and not "for".

Reinhart -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 19:03:06)

Deniz, please ignore this thread, looking back at what i asked, the right words didnt come out as it was intended for, Ill ask again the the future but leave this thread out for now please.

Ron.M -> RE: Chord Progressions Please!?!? (Jul. 8 2010 19:12:50)

OK...you heard the man...

He's agreed it wasn't a great question...

So that's it.

Don't barbecue the guy for Christ's sake!

I've asked plenty dumb questions too..(sometimes to great players!...**** [:'(][:D])

cheers,

Ron
