Hi Guys,

I'm sure that this has been asked a million and one times but I would like to know if anyone can recommend a suitable metronome. I need one for playing classical but would like to get one that can be used for the various flamenco rhythms. I have been reading up on the KORG KDM-2 and it sounds like it might be a good one but I really would like some advice.

Cheers,
Eddie

Hi
if you have the $$$ the oscar herrero is a great metronome.
great for all styles...
just expensive
outlayed the money for one a year back and inhindsight was a great investment
otherwise intelli make a great range with good 'natural' sounds/clicks

Ouch! I see what you mean about expensive. It does look great though.

Eddie

Only 99 euro's for the software only version.
The box itselves is really bad, a display from the middle ages, hard to program...
I use the software to program it and play it via my stereo or use the metronome itself because its very loud.

other than Jason's software metronome, i would suggest a good old Wittner.

They sound good, and they're loud. http://www.metronomes.net/WitStdPl.htm

I hate the digital ones that go "beep beep beep"..

so true which is why the intelli's are so good
sound like a wittner but can be used on unbalanced surfaces and get over the sound of a good flamenco or lattice braced classical guitar.......

The Wittner needs no battery, and looks much cooler..[;)]

lol[:)]
but the rewinds through the alllegro section of 'la cathedral' or an extended solea...
[;)]
think wittner have gone electronic..

i think they are good for classical music, but in flamenco you need exact timing [8|]
Seriously i know someone who practiced with these things and didnt even notice that the metronome was off...

Thats hilarious!![:D][:D]

You cant buy a mechanical metronome and not check it for calibration.

Ive had a few Wittners that ive used for 15 years, and they're perfect.

I will make a video. I will make it tomorrow. It will be a video.

I see Todd, its just that i have a phobia only because its a mechanical device. I just dont trust these thingies compared to the electrical ones (software metronomes can have runtime errors too if badly programed (unlike jasons)). I actually bought a programmable hardware metronome, and i could also program it to 12 beats or more. But to be honest i didnt use it, i just like the sound of solo compas loops more. Or the sound of my foot [8D].
No, i wont be making any videos soon [;)]
