Born into the great Gypsy dynasty founded by his uncle, the legendary guitarist Diego del Gastor, Juan has accompanied such flamenco giants as Fernanda de Utrera, Juan Talega, and Miguel Funi. This great interpreter of gypsy flamenco guitar and cante, known as both joyous festero and master of cante jondo, is much sought-after in Andalucían peñas, the Bienal de Sevilla, and theaters around the world. For forty years he’s carried on the family tradition of performing and teaching. He and his wife, celebrated dancer Luci Rozario, who learned to dance flamenco at family weddings and perfected her technique with Juana Amaya and Angelita Vargas, will conduct workshops in cante, guitar, and baile.
