Hi,

don't know if anybody already uses this for flamenco guitars or if this subject was discussed already, but what about an adjustable saddle for flamenco guitars? Here are some guys using it for classical guitars.

Here is another video

Ron.M -> RE: Adjustable Saddle (Jun. 1 2010 3:24:31)

The second video is a bit long winded (4:54) to explain a simple concept eh?
(Maybe the guy just wants to make sure you've really understood it?)
Boy...that saddle looks more like a ski-slope than any saddle I've been used to...
Do the Classical guys like that heavy duty angle?

I've done the same thing for years when playing around with a new saddle, marking the ends and cutting them when I'm happy.
It beats keeping pulling it out and sanding and putting it in again and then overdoing it and having to shim it up etc.

Humidity changes are not a big factor in Scotland...it's nearly always raining... [:D]

Anders sent me 2 saddles with his guitar. One his "regular" setup and one a bit lower.

If you don't like the look of the "extended" saddle featured in the video, then you could just have 3 or 4 different saddles in your guitar case IMO.

cheers,

Ron

I wouldnt use it coz I dont change the action every second day..... its useless at least for me.

Well it is not a revolutionary new thing, but maybe an OK little feature.

I thought I saw it on a photo of one of Castillo's negras. That was the first time that I learned of it. Afterwards, I learned that Thames and Romero offered it as well.

So apparently Fleta did the same thing.

Since folk seem to love gizmos, I've come up with this idea for the "ElectroSaddle"®. [:D]

Basically it's a piece of specially-cut thin piezo-ceramic which slides in to the saddle slot first and the bone saddle sits on top of it.

Tiny electrodes at each end are fed from a thin control box located at the back of the guitar which delivers a user-variable dc voltage offset which alters the vertical axis and size of the crystal structure and hence the saddle height.

This is the basic, manual version at $99.99

The "HumidoSaddle"® is the deluxe version in which the control box also houses a humidity sensor which supplies a second offset voltage to compensate for changes in humidity, so your preferred action always stays true and firm, with peace of mind, regardless of conditions...

Only $169.99!

Shares in this new startup venture are offered at $1 with a minimum 1000 shares per applicant.

(Only serious investors need apply for further details... [;)])

cheers,

Ron

if they lopped off most of the end of the saddle that was sticking out it might be worth while to have a bit of extra space, but there's no need to raise the action by 3 mm in my opinion unless you move from death valley to brazil

Ron ..... it's the 1st of June, not April ![:D]

Dear Sirs,

We wish to object and Report Abuse to the above post...

This concept is completely viable and scientifically provable, using our guarded in-house techniques and we completely object to this "estebanana" fellow (whoever he is) claims to know anything at all about the Spanish Guitar, let alone make such an ignorant comment...

We have many years of experience in this field and it is obvious this man is a lunatic, as probably many of the so called members of your miserable little Forum are too...

We will give you 24 hours to remove this slanderous post otherwise you will be closed down for good, I assure you.

We have passed this on to our Solicitors, whom you will be hearing from shortly.

Yours sincerely,

Herbet J Sprockett

keith -> RE: Adjustable Saddle (Jun. 1 2010 13:23:56)

for the person who is a flamenco puro and does not want nuevo gizmos, i think carrying around a second saddle on a lanyard makes sense (sort of like a memory card). just think of the small talk that could generate at the next juerga. then again, maybe a electronic gizmo like the humidosaddle or electrosaddle would absolutely be the talk of the room
