kozz -> Barcelona (May 9 2010 5:17:37)

Wednesday I am leaving for 10 days to Barcelona.
Any nice flamenco bars to visit, or some guitar shops?

thanks!

If you like seafood and cava (and can afford it) I strongly recommend "Paco Eralgo".

If i where you, i'll go to the Camp Nou to watch the last football game of the season. Barcelona can win the Liga. If so = big fiesta man!![:D]
16 may at 17pm. Don't miss that, even in a bar!

Hi Kozz,

It was a while back I visited Barcelona, so I am not sure this info is still reliable, but is is all in the center near the Ramblas, so easy to check out if it is still there.

One is a very tiny shop called Flamenco with flamenco stuff, books video, cajon etc.
Not so much, but worth while to take a look.
But the fun of this shop is, that in the back is a curtain, and behind the curtain they made a litte place to give very small performings.
No tourists!
I asked the owner, and he told me there where performings on tuesday wednesday thursday friday and saturday.
entrance 10 euro, one drink free.
The performers are from the old gipsy shantytown of Somorrosto that was in the past between Barcelona and the Cemetery of Pueblo Nuevo.
I was invited for a frendsconcert, the performing was mediair, but the ambiance was very nice, and not comercial.
the adres is: Marques de Barbera 6
If you walk on the Rambla, it is the street beside the gran teatre del Liceu
called Calle Union, walk in the street, and you see it at your right hand.
( The name of the street chaince in marques de barbera)

Second thing that might be of interest, is a guitar builder in the Barrio Gothico
There is a guitar builder, not so good, he would not believe there are good blanca's,
But worth while to visit , and get some guitar shot !
the adres is:
Jean-Pierre Sardin
Carrer Regomir,41

Have fun!

Peter

Thank you Mezzo and Gerundino.
I've checked the links and wrote down the addresses.

Gerundino,
I thought I'd heard that story before but I couldn't find anything, but thats exactly what I like....behind the curtain performances, and a good atmosphere.
Thanks for bringing it up...

There were some other "official" performances, but personally I'd rather watch a DVD than an on-stage performance in a theater.

The last time I was in Barcelona was with the Olympics 1992, never heard of flamenco in those days...
