Dear All,

After searching all subject here, i could not find a pattern as :

ami(down)ami(up)ami(down)ami(up)....etc ,

is it correct or any other reason, since there is no discussion or example relate to this pattern .

thanks

I don't think i have ever seen any flamenco guitarists using your described pattern. Actually, i think i have seen some guitarists doing this but they did not play flamenco.

There are many things you can ask yourself when playing rasqueados. Such as, does this make sense? Am i enhancing the flow of this rhythm or hindering it? Is this sounding even? Am i finding the guitars pulsation? Is there another idea i could try?
How can i adjust or change this into something better?..Etc

I would not dwell to much on the type of rasqueado you described. Practice the common ones. There is a reason most people use them.

However, If you find a place to play a ami(down)ami(up) ras and it sounds cool, feels good, and maintains the rhythm then go for it. There is nothing stopping you.

up strokes necessarily have a different sound then down strokes. In flamenco it is common to use up strokes with index and thumb, but not the other fingers. In some cases only downstrokes are done for a consisitent sound...in others the index up stroke is important for the bright color it has on a specific beat. The pattern you describe could work as triplets for example but will change color every other beat, and the reslutant sound is kind of...well..."cheesy" sounding. Like a guitarist who is trying to immitate the flamenco style without really having studied it.

Anyway hope that helps.

Ricardo

NINOYDEROBERTO,

You're better just uploading a straight mp3 to the Audio/Video uploads section.

(I can't find a way of changing the file extension anyway....[:-])

cheers,

Ron

You play this rasgeo confidently so if you can find a place to use it why not?

You have a more traditional style? This suits this rasgeo, maybe it's not so good for a more modern style.
