Flamingo -> Flamenco Guitar by Benito Huipe WANTED (Nov. 23 2004 2:36:36)

Hi, does anyone has a Blanca by a Mexican Luthier Benito Huipe for sale?

Guest -> RE: Flamenco Guitar by Benito Huipe WANTED (Jan. 25 2005 22:10:06)

I have a Benito Huipe guitar that I might sell. Not sure what a blanca is though.

Guest -> RE: Flamenco Guitar by Benito Huipe WANTED (Jan. 26 2005 0:43:41)

Hi,

Blanca means the side and the back are Cypress wood, which is much lighter color than Rosewood (dark color wood). Benito makes two types of Flamenco guitars, one with dark Rosewood (referred to as Negra) and one with Cypress (as Blanca).

Please let me know.

Hey Flamenco,

You know I had thought that Benito had retired a while back but since the one on ebay is a 2004, I guess maybe he is still actively building.

There's a guy in California, Ron Fernandez, www.fernandezmusic.com
I believe he know's Benito well and you may want to email him and ask him. I'm curious to know if Benito did in fact build this 2004.

Very good point. A few months ago his website listed a couple of Benito's guitars, but I noticed a few weeks ago they were gone. It was my understanding he (Benito) had retired and was not building, but he may be making a few.

I also questioned the 2004 date on the Ebay guitar. If it's legitimate, I would try for it if I were in the market. Fair price from a good builder.

Flamingo -> RE: Flamenco Guitar by Benito Huipe WANTED (Jan. 26 2005 17:50:08)

Very interesting. Anyone I asked about Benito, all said he is retired. I've asked Ron Fernandez, he was kindly replied that he is no longer keep in touch with Benito, since Benito moved back to Paracho and seems retired. Yes, the eBay guitar dated 2004, meaning the man is still working maybe not making many as before.

hi my name is samuel padilla and i am a freind of benito and as i am typing this benito is building a guitar that might be of interest to you. the guitar is a true blanca. no yellow stain will be added and the natural color of the wood will be preserved.the guitar is a new concept for him since he is experimenting with new construction methods to mack the guitar as easy to play as possible,as if his guitars were hard to play. i am working with him to market it in the west coast. if interested contact me at my temperary e-mail of Brittani_Padilla@yahoo.com

This is OT, but around here we have a lot of Juan Huipes. I wonder what the relation is? Some of these are quite nice.

Richard Jernigan -> RE: Flamenco Guitar by Benito Huipe WANTED (Jan. 28 2006 20:51:33)

I met a gentleman named Juan Huipe in Paracho last week. He is the father of Arturo Huipe. Arturo told me they work together with no hired help. I bought a very nice classical from Arturo, cocobolo/cedar, Fleta plantilla and bracing pattern.

I also played a spruce/cypress flamenca, plenty of volume and a very nice action. Arturo did not have a finished Santos model flamenca, which i would like to try some time.

I, too, am becoming interested in a Benito Huipe flamenco - any news? My e-mails to him haven't been answered, and the website seems to be still developed (or abandoned)....

Any leads?

Thanks.
