JulianGuitar -> Hello! (Mar. 22 2010 11:10:10)

Just thought I'd say hello! I've been lurking on these forums for a while, but havent posted anything. So, a bit about myself.. Hmm... My name is Julian, I've been playing flamenco guitar for four years now. I finished high school last summer, and I've just turned 20. Im lucky enough to have a teacher who is a gypsy from Spain, which means Im not only learning the different palos, but also what he considers to be proper flamenco. Hopefully, this will make it so I wont seem like a tourist, if I ever play in Spain :P Im practising alot, but sometimes I find it quite hard to motivate myself, seeing as there are no other flamenco players around here (Norway), except my teacher. I play in dance classes with him once a week (would've been more, but the other classes are while I'm at work), but sadly they mostly dance to arranged pieces, with little or no improvisation. At least I learn the letras though, but my teacher does whatever he can to throw me off while singing (yeah he's singing, theres no other singer). Makes it very difficult, but hopefully, it will pay off in the long run. Currently, I own two flamenco guitars: A manuel Romero student guitar, and a Conde Hermanos guitar, Paco de Lucia model, which sounds amazing :D Now lets see... Guitarists/bands I listen to alot (at this time): Nino Josele, Chicuelo, Vicente Amigo, Son de la Frontera, Pepe Habichuela and Nino Miguel, among others. Currently, I'd say my strongest fields are bulerias, and solea por bulerias, as I've worked the most on those. I'm planning to move to Cordoba next year, hopefully get to study flamenco there eventually. Also, I'm attending the intensive summer course with the Christina Heeren foundation this July, so if anyone would be interested in sharing an apartment... Lemme know! So anyways, Hello! :P
