flybynight -> Which strings to which pegs, L or R ? (Mar. 20 2010 13:29:08)
|
I was just looking here: http://www.lafalseta.com/Sanchis_Carpio_Cipres.html I've attached the photo to show the head, and which strings go to which pegs, and the D seems to go to the LEFT hand side of the hole, top left peg. Is this done to keep the neck balanced, or is it to avoid the string touching the wood at any point (I presume the string shouldn't touch the wood ?) Is there a 'correct' way approach to do this. What are the factors to consider ? Let's invent some notation to describe this picture: -^- dL gR aR bL eL eR Where for each pair, the first letter is the string name, and the second says whether it is strung to the (L)eft or (R)ight of the hole. I've also heard about swapping the E and D around, so - forgetting the hole for a minute, you get: -^- e g a b d e Which way do you do it ?
