I did not use this bracing system. I agree with you that bracing without a center brace is not a way to do, and the only reason I believe Esteso skipped the center brace is because there is no center seam. The top is made of 3 pieces.

I normally keep my sides at 2mm as well, with backs being in the 2--2.2mm range.

Quick update. I just played Peter’s guitar this past Saturday. I found it to be very, very nice, with a perfect setup. Very responsive and not mushy at all, in fact it has a nice tight pulsation that I like.

I found it to be very similar to John Shelton’s guitars. John builds light and it had the same crisp, easy to play qualities.
