XXX -> A Juan Carmona video (Mar. 18 2010 8:11:14)

I thought i share this JC video, because of the recent threads about him, and because some of the performances/pieces are NOT on YouTube. The bulerias are, but not the fandango, solea, and tanguillo.
I remember wasting my time to transcribe the solea, as it is in C# without capo [:D]

Part 1

Part 2

should work now.

Can't wait for your upload. I'm listening to him as I write. I love his work. He's playing in Paris in a month, I already bought the tickets! CARMONAAA HAHAAAA[:D]

If you want to get hold of this DVD, for me at least, it came free with Borboreo. If you buy that album, you might get it.

I say might.. just in case there are different cd versions around - some with the dvd, and some without.

The DVD is just a copy of the Borboreo album tracks with him in various (similar) studio settings - a bit cheesy, but you get to see his fingerwork.

I hope that his new album (not even on his discography of his official website ? http://www.juancarmona.com) doesn't do the same sneaky trick that he pulled last time..

Caminos Nuevos contained two identical tracks lifted - directly - without even bothering to re-interpret etc., that were originally on Borboreo.

Hopefully he's got enough material to fill a full album, and we don't have to pay for songs twice.

Did you purchase Borboreo through his website? I downloaded it years ago from emusic and there was no DVD.
Caminos Nuevos IS his new CD AFAIK.

Caminos Nuevos was released in 2000 (Le Chant du Monde / harmonia mundi) - definitely not a new album.

I bought it in France years ago on a cd, in Montpellier. I remember the assistant being very proud of the fact he was french, and saying this was definitely a 'flamenco puro' cd.

If this is a flamenco puro cd, I'll eat the strings from my guitar in a sandwich with the finest dijon mustard as a dressing.

Nice album though.. he oozes musicality.

Edit (reads the original question..): I bought Bought Borboreo on a CD from a Harmonia Mundi store.

oh ok. There are different release dates on the internet i guess. Some say Caminos Nuevos is 2008? Anyways, sounds like you got very lucky with that DVD! I will look if i can find it seperately from the CD. Would be cool to see more videos of his playing.

I guess this is his new album:

the price is absolutely fair, so i bought it straight without even pre-listening [:D]

I bought it at Saturn. On the cover was a cartoon obviously made by a drunken person or a child. It looked degenerated an sad..and from behind came a ghost...

Not sure if you can get the DVD separately. But I've found a couple of places that do the combo.

Good luck.. crotchet looks cheapest!

i love Juan Carmona's playing, although i'm not very fond of his tone, i always seem to hear his strings are too soft, which probably suits his playing, but i don't like the sound it creates...he's an excellent composer and i enjoy all his albums...i've also had the opportunity to see him perform twice in two days, first he played jazz with an excellent percussionist and locally well known pianist and sax player (i wasn't very impressed with that, to be honest), the next night he performed flamenco with his band and an orchestra, it was amazing...also got to chat with him after the performance, a very nice, friendly guy...(and that's when i discovered Sabrina Romero in his band, woooow...:))
