I have been trying various products over the years to help make my fingernails naturally stronger. Finally I have found something that seems to work. It's called Enzymina and basically its an amino acid that the body uses in the formation of fingernails and hair. Its not a medicine or drug and it has been extracted from a vegetable source. I have made an endorsement on this website for anyone interested in taking a supplement for naturally stronger nails

Interesting - as a person of thin nails I'm always curious about things that might help improve the situation.

The Enzymina website doesn't give much information at all, just says the product is great and suggests that the main ingredient is L-cysteine. The ingredients and their quantities are not listed anywhere that I can see.
Are they listed on the bottle? Are there some enzymes (as suggested by the name) that make it work better?

I just wonder if there's anything about this product (apart from the fancy packaging) that would make it more effective than regular doses of the much (much) cheaper L-cysteine or NAC (N-acetyl-L-cysteine, which - they say- is more efficiently assimilated).

Wow that's some endorsement, you must really believe in it! It's quite pricey but I suppose you get what you pay for. Have to admit I'm tempted to give it a try.

I'm more tempted to find out first if there's anything in it that can't be got much cheaper in a plainer package...

Ailsa. It work out at about 10 pounds a month to take it so I consider that cheap for stronger nails. I spend a lot more on strings, glue and protein coats etc.

Esteban. There probably are cheaper ways to buy L- cysteine on the market. The thing is that most sources are extracted from things like animal hoofs and bone marrow. Often there is little regulation on this process if the product is coming from a less developed country. This product is made from the skins of a type of potato. This means its very difficult to overdose or cause any ill side effects from it. There may well be other helpful products out there but Im endorsing this one because I think its safe and it works.

Yes Pim, point taken about the quality of the materials. I'm very glad to know that it worked for you. Out of scientific curiosity I would still like to know what is in it besides cysteine.
