believe it or not kozz some people count it this way. we will have a selector in the preferences to choose starting on 8 instead of 12 and probably even the old school 5 beat thing that doesn't make much sense too.

In the end it doesn't matter ofcourse, but I was confused.

Really Awesome!!! Much better sounding than he Oscar Herrero metronome I tried and much better than the MundoBeat. Will have to gravitate from my Dr. Beat and Solo Compas to this when it becomes available.

The one problem I had was that when I tried the "metronome only" setting it kept freezing up and I was not able to close it without "Force Quit" on my Mac. I am using Firefox. Maybe I should try it with Safari. Also, it wouldn't play the "metronome only" either.

Again, really cool. Also really like the two palmas settings.

No need to apologize. The metronome is GREAT! You posted it here to look for feedback and are getting it. Gotta work out the bugs.

Jason, was this what you used in the lessons for your site? I distinctly the sound/pattern of that bulerias loop.

But great work! I'd happily pay a 3-digit sum for a REALLY customizable compas tool with dozens of patterns and samples that almost equal natural recordings (even though I realize the latter is hard to do). That may be more than what you are actually going for here but either way I'll be following your progress.

The latter has already been done.... samples have been recorded and many many patterns have been created with more of an emphasis on grooving for longer periods of time with subtle changes and random complicated events happening here and there which of course could be turned on or off. It will be an update as soon as we finish the iPhone version. We will keep these patterns and samples because they have a certain sound, but the update that will come soon after release will add a degree of naturalism that will be truly unique.

A nice convolution reverb is what Maissaim is working on right now. It will add some much needed dimension to the sound and if we get it working you will be able to select different types of real spaces to hear the palmas and cajon in.

Here is a recording of the "space" we are using to test the reverb with the cajon.

And yes I have used static "non-improvising" loops from the program in some lessons for well over a year.

About making it customizable..... this may only be a feature in the VST,Audio Unit, RTAS plugin versions in the future. The standalone metronome is mainly a practice tool and we want to avoid it becoming too complicated yet still have some really cool features that are easy to turn on or off. The plugin versions will be aimed at pros and advanced users and will have the ability to be programmed via MIDI..... if we make it that far. Between performing (which I am doing a lot more of and the future is looking even better), teaching and a few other things I am working on that are also pretty huge and then Maissam's time travel device that Intel keeps trying to persuade him to hand over by promising to make him the new "Rock Star Guy" in their advertising campaigns..... we have more than one full plate of stuff to do.

I thought the accents were on 1 3 5 8 and 11.

Which brings up a good point. Any program I've seen like this is always Static, with the possibliity of starting on 8 or 12 or whatever depending on the palo.

I'd vote for letting any palo start on any beat and / or letting the user cycle through the count and the accents independantly.

Thats a new one.....

Seguiriyas is really the only palo with this type of issue.

Tanguillo could be 6 or 4 and Sevillanas starts on 4 but some people think of it starting on 1

Other than that I think things are pretty clear. We will have settings in the prefernces for these palos. I don't really want to give the end user so much control that they can learn things in a way that will confuse them.

Letting people decide where the cycle starts may be a good idea. Lets see what Maissam says about implementing.

i know a dance teacher that counts like that. really confusing...

8 10 12 3 6 is the easiest way to count seguiriyas, imo. it's just way too weird to assign accents to different numbers now that i have it beaten into my head. when i'm even just counting normally random things in life, i still accent the 12's, 3's etc. when i go past 12, i'll go back to 1 by accident sometimes.

Thats the way I know it AT. That way you end the Sevillanas on 1. Sevillanas are more complex in the way its phrases are made up than most give it credit for.

Hey everyone,

We've just finished adding some reverb to the audio on Doctór Compás . It sounds MUCH more realistic now.

When you load the program, make sure that you've restarted your browser since the last time you loaded the earlier version.
