OK, If you care to share, I would like to know what is the best sounding chord you like or have come across and in what context it works in Flamenco - i.e. how would you use it?

I'll start - I love this chord
X0242X
- an A chord variation, can't be bothered to figure it out what it is called, that you can arpeggiate in a guajiras for a full compas and it sounds excellent.

Simple and Beautiful to my ear!

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 4 2010 16:06:23)

i think that's an A9. you can leave the high E string open cuz E is just the 5th of A. fourth fret on the 3rd string is the 9th of A.

I don't know there's so many chords that sound really good only in the context of a certain falseta

I really like all these chords por medio. They sound all fancy and modern and jazzy and stuff…..

But if I had to pick just one favorite chord and context I guess I’d go with:

1
1
3
2

3

as a passing chord between C7 and F in solea por bulerias (though I think the chord itself is actually just a re-voiced C7…). I like how it has a kind of soft sound and feel that provides a nice contrast within the hard, driving vibe of SpB. Plus it sounds all fancy and modern and jazzy and stuff.

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 5 2010 6:33:51)

how do you guys make chords?

Escribano -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 5 2010 6:55:39)

For a chord rather than single note, you need to do this $6.5.$5.7.$4.3.$3.5 between the tab tags

$6.5.$5.7.$4.3.$3.5

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 5 2010 6:57:34)

$6.0.$5.2.$4.4.$3.1.$2.0.$1.0.

See my reply above, you need to put the characters between the tags like this
$6.5.$5.7.$4.3.$3.5
only the TAB must be in lowercase.
$6.5.$5.7.$4.3.$3.5

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 5 2010 7:00:36)

Yeah, that is CAGED notation

at_leo_87 -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 5 2010 7:03:43)

yeah i just realized you put that in help section.

is there anyway you can add a button for the tab? much like how we have buttons for quote, bold, image, etc.

These aren't my favorite chords (none are), I just haven't found any good uses for them. Maybe alegrias?

Is Mrmagenta still active in the foro? He once wrote a great big all flamenco chords pdf. I wish he would include the new chords and upload the actual version. I love the old sheet.

michall -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 6 2010 9:32:38)

I think that really matters about context of chord no?
You can play E chord in moll dur or phrygian mode, or like dominant in compositon from A so it sounds every time diferrent.

I like lot of chors you guys write and add some progressions:
Alegrias:
$6.0.$5.3.$4.4.$3.2.$2.1.$1.0

$6.0.$5.2.$4.2.$3.1.$2.0.$1.0

or
$6.0.$5.2.$4.1.$3.1.$2.0.$1.2

$6.2.$5.0.$4.1.$3.2.$2.0.$1.0

$6.0.$5.2.$4.2.$3.1.$2.0.$1.0

or
$6.x.$5.7.$4.6.$3.8.$2.0.$1.0

$6.9.$5.0.$4.7.$3.9.$2.0.$1.0

solea:
$6.1.$5.3.$4.5.$3.0.$2.0.$1.0

bulerias:
$6.0.$5.1.$4.3.$3.5.$2.3.$1.0

$6.0.$5.1.$4.3.$3.4.$2.3.$1.0

$6.1.$5.1.$4.0.$3.1.$2.1.$1.0

$6.0.$5.0.$4.2.$3.3.$2.2.$1.0

Wite more chors and progressions -we can only improve our flamenco vocabulary!

Chiste de Gales -> RE: The Best Sounding Chord (Mar. 6 2010 9:46:12)

Heres a start on a new one. Ive always thought chords are learned best
in context. Otherwise its much harder to use them. The following chords work well in Bulerias, Tangos, Tientos and any other A-Phrygian palo:

Please feel free to suggest additional chords for me to add to this
