I really, really, really wish my cable provider offered Andalucian TV stations.

Really.

aleksi -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 11:21:27)

You are right, Great Aire!
Thats how its done.
does anybody know is there a dvd from this even, I would get it immediately.

Escribano -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 11:23:32)

The best of Granada and quite a group for sure.

"Grabado en una cueva del Sacromonte de Granada en octubre del 2000"

ashod -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 11:42:07)

Yeah, I've been watching this vid for some time too.

My favourite in it is by far the part where aurora carbonell sings. Such perfection!

Anybody know if we can hear her somewhere else? I love her voice/soul whatever the word!!

CuerdasDulces -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 11:51:33)

Solea Morente [;)][:)]

Aire was only that part at the end.

Yes this is taken from a DVD:

There are a few excerpts from it on YouTube. The first part is a stage show, it has a couple of good pieces but unfortunately Estrella dances. [&:] The parts filmed in the cave-house (like this one) are the best.

(I like seing Juan play bulerías, when he twitches his shoulder like that, having fun -very cute).

I was there ! Harold recorded it. It was a long night and somehow no sign of the vast quantities of whisky drank. Guess they cut the really drunk bits from the final edits ! Dont know if it appears on the dvd but the best bit for me was when La Golondrina, who had arrived walking with two sticks to help, got up and danced.

flybynight -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 12:42:56)

.. and it is also part of her antologia (this DVD + her 3 CD's to date).

Unfortunately that part didn't make it onto the disc (maybe there were too many 'wiki' bottles in the shot) but there's a great bit where Loles dances, at the end of this clip:

Kate -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 12:57:26)

Oh yeah love it. We had an amazing juerga once and Loles danced, her long hair loose and she bent over backwards so far that her hair swept the floor. I was gob smacked ! That party went on for about 16 hours ! Enough time to sober up and get drunk all over again !

How cool is that[8D]

The girl who dances at the end. Is that the same girl we saw dancing in some clips posted on this forum about the Flamenco School in Madrid? Looks similar.

trudgiano -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 24 2010 15:52:50)

I really enjoyed listening to that. I see it's from a DVD, but does anyone know if it's available on a CD too?

No, she's the daughter of Enrique Morente and Aurora Carbonell, a good dancer (better than her sister [;)])but not a professional.

mezzo -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 25 2010 6:23:12)

"ole las guapas"

thanks for the link. Too much arte in this cuevas.

It's remind me why I buy a flamenco guitar. I saw a show of Estrella Morente in Marseille at the end of 2006. And one of the tocaor was Juan habichuela i think. I was thinking "this guy is amazing"....6 month later I buy mi guitarra [:)].
Not because of Paco or other monstro killer but this kind of arte make me love flamenco.

Juerga? I don't know this word.

Actually the video has fascinated me all week. Can anyone elaborate on a few points.

The Cueva. A gather this is a traditional setting of some kind. It would be nice to understand a bit more. Is it an arranged gig or a spontaneous jam. Is there an audience off camera that we can't see. Etc etc...

Estrelle Morente y Javier Conde. I've heard this combination of partners is considered to be the perfect marriage. Can someone tell me more about this. Is it true within certain circles of people or generally true in Spain.

Any insight much appreciated.

Kate -> RE: best buleria video ever (Feb. 25 2010 23:40:47)

A juerga is a flamenco party, usually spontaneous that tend to go on all night and can go on for days with everyone participating.

The video was shot in a cave in the Sacromonte, a hill in Granada famous for its Gypsy families, many are now bars and flamenco tablaos, some are still homes. This cave belongs to el Curro del Albaicin.

It was a film shoot, with no audience just all the film crew, me and Enrique Morente as far as I can remember. It was 10 years ago but seem to remember there were about 3 lots of filming with breaks for food and drink in between, but there was no rehearsal, so yeah it was pretty much spontaneous in that they filmed what was happening, the director was directing the cameras not the performers.

exelent, and soon it will be mine. So I assume Estrella doesnt dance as well as she sings [:)] .
I ordered the antologia which flybynight found. The price is not so much higher and I will get to know her production.
