Rodolfo Cucculelli -> Flamenco Blanca Copy Esteso Guitar (Nov. 1 2004 20:08:09)

Dear Guitar Aficionados:
I present you a a true Flamenco Blanca Guitar. This instrument was commisioned to me by the Argentine Flamenco Guitarrist and Carlos Martínez. In Buenos Aires, by the year 1997 Carlos wanted a true copy of a traditional Spanish guitar, built following the principles of the antique Spanish guitar making. As he studied with Maestro Pepe Monreal in Buenos Aires, from the instruments of Pepe he choosed the "Viuda y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso", a superb instrument. You can see the instrument I built:

Back of the Guitar:

Features about this Esteso design:
Aesthetically free of ornaments, a large soundbox surface, a long string lenght (67,01 cm) combined with a a soft internal top bracing (like Esteso used to do) makes this guitar able to produce a very traditional "jondo" sound, for the "tablao" and for the solo concert.
A very light construction, a very reduced bridge, a soft wood for the neck and a not thick fingerboard, all this elements together to get a good "picado" and a good "rasgueado".
Flamenco Soundboard:

Top: Swiss Pine.
Soundhole: as usual at that time doing the 19 th. fret in two pieces.
Rosette or Boquilla: Traditional Spanish style.
String lenght: 67.01 cm.
Golpeador: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/g0tfRGoK0zqkiK27VSpocA?feat=directlink
Clear Nylon (originally this guitar had two pieces of Flamed Maple).
Flamenco Bridge: Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbergia Nigra).
Bridge height: 6 mm.
Saddle: Bone.
Strings spacing 1 st. to 6 th.: 59 mm.
Action of the strings over the top at the bridge: 7 mm. 1 st. string, 8 mm. 6 th. string.
Cypress Guitar Back:

A soft Cedro provided with a truss rod accesible from the soundhole to control the action of the strings over the frets. A traditional guitar is not built with such neck reinforcement but I do so to be sure that the neck were possible be stable in whatever climatic conditions.
Nut: Bone.
Strings spacing at nut: 45 mm.
Fingerboard: Ebony
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/dr8eapMUBQO57nidG4OcnA?feat=directlink
Wide of the fingerboard at nut: 54 mm.
Frets: 19, German Silver, soft material.
Action of the strings over the 12 th. fret: 2,8 mm. / 3 mm.
Heel, Zoque o Tacon: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/yjZ18ElXolEG7f18WPYGzg?feat=directlink
Bindings: Indian Rosewood at the corner back sides, with black and white stained strips over the top.
Varnish: Shellac.
I have not a mp3 file of the guitar by now, but I will add to this post in near future.
I hope you liked the guitar.
If you want to ask something no doubt contact me.
My best regards.

Jamey -> RE: Flamenco Blanca Copy Esteso Guitar (Nov. 3 2004 18:52:38)

all the links to photos in your posting above do not work. The reason is because there is a space before the image file name.
For example:
You used the link
http://it.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rcucculelli/detail?.dir=bc9e&.dnm=b 113.jpg

Notice there is a space between the "=b" and the "113.jpg".
If you post the like as such:
http://it.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rcucculelli/detail?.dir=bc9e&.dnm=b113.jpg

Take note that there is now no space and that this link works the way you had intended it to. I suggest you edit your post above and simply remove the spaces at the end as I've highlighted here. Then all of your links will work properly. I've added the links in order below, these ones should work as intended.

Ricardo -> RE: Flamenco Blanca Copy Esteso Guitar (Nov. 28 2009 23:06:57)

Interesting copy. Would like to see the original, I guess from the 50's? I imagine you changed a lot things? Anyway this is better suited to the Luthier section of the forum, unless you want to sell this, then it belongs in Classifieds or both sections.

Ricardo

uh. My next guitar will definetely be a conde hermanos blanca. Then I will also be able to write definitely correct without dictionary...
To your offer, I would take off the white golpeadores when selling a guitar because who knows what damage is hidden under the white plastic. I would not buy a guitar with white golpeadores because its too much risk for the money. Just take it off and you get for sure more customers. If the price is good... and I could test it somehow,.. I would wanna check it out. Im searching at the moment.
I tested some damn great conde in this shop around a week ago.
http://www.hermanosconde.com/tienda.html
I dont know which one of the conde shops ell onlyfactory guitars...but thats not important... the guitars were very good for just 2.700 Euro. And,..these were the professional models!! I was shocked because in the other two conde shops they sold the same model for around 4000-6000Euros!! How come?? Thats a riddle for me.. :./

Hello Escribano,
I've just changed the correct links in my head post.
Do you speak Spanish ?. I'm Argentine born.
Excuse me.
Rodolfo Cucculelli

Rodolfo Cucculelli -> RE: Flamenco Blanca Copy Esteso Guitar (Nov. 29 2009 14:14:13)

Ricardo, the original guitar belonged to the Spanish guitarist who lived in Buenos Aires, Pepe Monreal, that guitar was built by the 1955/1963 more or less. I built the copy when I lived in Buenos Aires.
The guitar is exact réplica, the guitar head was modified by Roque Guagliardi who changed Ebony clavijas by tuning machines. And i made my heel, because my customer liked it, the other guitar was made with the original heel, in the folowing photo gallery you can see it: http://picasaweb.google.com/rcucculelli/FlamencoBlancaGuitarCopyOfAViudaYSobDeDomingoEstesoOscarVarelaFlamencoGuitarist?feat=directlink
Nextly i'll upload a video of two Argentine guitarist playing two réplicas of the same guitar: one with tuning machines, and the other with clavijas.
Nice Regards,
Rodolfo Cucculelli
