Are saying nope it does not weaken the bridge? If you have a bigger bridge like yours probably not, but it could compromise a bridge with a lower tie block.

Tie blocks with 12 holes have been broken, but it depends on the wood and the massiveness of the tie block. Mileage varies.

It is a nice looking bridge. I always liked the ones with tie block rising out of the back of the bridge on that little ledge edge.

I expect that on a guitar with a higher action (like a classical), the height of the saddle makes a difference too.

A taller saddle with the sharper break angle could cause/receive more pressure than is healthy... I suppose.

...But how much pressure is too much pressure? Say extra hard strings played really hard?

Hi Anders,

I went through several posts about solutions how to tie nylon strings to the bridge, Im really surprised for many crazy things like 12 holes, 6 holes with bigger diameter, even 18 holes, beads....etc

I can follow, that for flamenco low action is essential and this influences bridge height and of course string angle by using ,,standar,, nylon string tie
way is not O.K. Also wear of tie block and design ,,purity,, plays here some role...

So my question is, how you ever heard/seen solution like this:

And If not, why is not used? Why to risk tie block damage to put 12 holes and still not having ,,pure,, tie block?

WARNING!

Get it loose right away! You will pull the knot trough the hole!!!! It will damage your bridge.

No joke!

dusan -> RE: New way to tie strings?? (Mar. 8 2020 18:04:43)

I think that is similar solution like beads, if the knot size is much bigger than the hole diameter, it should be safe...

I use this solution already few years with high tension savarez strings and If you do enough big knot, there is no risk, at least I never had some issue with that...

Ok!

Well if it works it works. I did it once by accident with a normal single knot and it stared to widen the hole.
So, I felt the urge to warn you. [:)]

Thanks bro, of course its better to be careful than to damage the bridge...
To exchange it is not easy job at all..
