Juan Martin may not be turning the flamenco world upside down but he has succeeded where many others have failed, and he's honestly not a bad musician. There are two main things about Juan Martin aside from the fact that he has provided some great ground breaking material to help people get started on their Flamenco journey. 1. He's not a bad musician as mentioned in the above quote. But he really doesn't do anything new with it and if you like "recalentaos" (reheated leftovers as they say in Spanish) then Paco Pena does this whole genre much better. His solo work such as Andalusian suite is nice stuff if somewhat and / or completely predictable. I guess if you are starting out, you look up to him, once you get good you look down on him, such is the world of JM. I realize I have now crossed the dreaded Paco Pena reference line and someone will automatically rip this thread to bits, say something crude or vulgar and inevitably then get their post deleted so, start your engines boys!!! 2. Juan Martin is under the sad, tragic illusion that he knows how to accompany singers and dancers. If he were to stick to solo guitar he would have much more cred but as seen on some youtube vids, he has NO CLUE! Stoney
