A good rendition of.... the Beginners' Challenge Falseta (?) [:)]

XXX -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 7:15:11)

Thx. There seems to be more videos of him. My favorite guitar album.
His playing position looks so uncomfortable though, with the headstock towards the ground. I wonder how he can play like that.

chapman_g -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 7:41:30)

Of all the modern younger guys I really like his CD the best to me it is very modern but still has a very flamenco, earthy, heavy feel. It stills sounds like flamenco to me as opposed to some type of flamenco/jazz fusion thing.

Michael

Yes, his position looks strange.. but I sit down the same. ^^

Thanks for the link!! Finally some jesus de Rosario videos. His rasguados are awesome, arn´t they?

Arash -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 8:32:42)

such sitting position, guitar holding, etc. details, also depend on your anatomy i suppose...

yes the rasgs are crazy

Grisha -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 8:40:53)

Yea, this guy is scary good! I recently hung out with Anton Jimenez, and he's amazing as well. He made my guitar sound really good! Made me want to quit... No, JK. [:D]

Doitsujin -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 9:17:16)

Do you speak spanish Grisha?

Grisha -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 9:21:10)

I get by... I also had a friend of mine, who was fluent in both.

I've studied French, German and Spanish... French was the easiest, but Spanish stuck more...

Well...I wouldn't say "awesome" actually...
It's just that modern players are so focussed on finger work and hardly ever use any good, honest rasgueado...that it's amazing just to hear any at all!

Plently better examples I've heard from very non famous "traditional" players that leaves them standing IMO.

I liked the rework of the El Tempul ras (in a different key) near the end.

Interesting...he does it exactly the same way as I described and demonstrated last year in my Tempul Ras Cheat as far as I can see...but not the original "Paco" way.

Dunno.

I would have to slow it down and analyze it but I can't be bothered 'cos I'm working on something else and life's too short.[:D]

cheers,

Ron

Come on Ron, let Paco play it as he like and any other player as he like. Its flamenco...let them room for interpretation. Paco and Co. also dont play their falsetas always exactly the same. Its not cheating. Without room for interpretation no development.. oh... I think thats the problem with old flamenco.[:D]

@Grisha
Thats nice to hear! I had only one time contact with Anton Jimenez... and he told me in spanish: I dont understand just a single word..I need to find somebody for translating. ^^ Than I used my broken spanish...and I think my spanish was so bad...or I insulted him by accident..that he didnt answer.. [&:] Hes this year again in Berlin for the flamenco festival. Yu see 10 videos of his performance in berlin from a concert in berlin. He also gives a workshop. So if anybody can make it... Last time he showed his bulerias that starts in the key of taranto. But I dont know if its already over.. :./ Apparently I cant make it there..

Grisha -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 11:10:54)

Yes, he wants to make a deal with me... I show him classical repertoire and my technical exercises, any tips on technique (he says "teach him technique" ), and he shows me his pieces... I don't think he needs any technique lessons, as he kicks some serious you know what... And I want to get his tricks in return, and any tips for accompanying cante...

xirdneH_imiJ -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 11:25:49)

funny, the same happened to me...he messaged me on facebook, then we exchanged a few sentences, i used my really bad and basic spanish, then suddenly he was gone [&:]

Doitsujin -> RE: Jesus de Rosario -Bulerias (Jan. 18 2010 11:28:19)

Suck all info you can get. Thats great! ^^ But does he stay long in the US? I remember he didnt allow any video in workshops. Defrag your memory Grisha for the compositions. Youre a happy man...

LOL! Grisha,

The only tips I ever got in Spain is that they'd screw up their faces and say, "No...no...no..."
And then a kindly smiling person comes up and shakes his earlobe with his finger and thumb and says "You must LISTEN...eh?...entiendes?" [:D][:D]

If only it was so easy!

Oh well!

cheers,

Ron

PS: Sorry Grisha...I hit "Edit" instead of "Reply"!
